Boma for dinner... PIZZA for dessert!

We ate (well...kinda) at Boma on Saturday. The hostess and server both said "be sure to save room for dessert!" - DH, DD & I figured this must be code for "you won't like much, there's always dessert!" :rotfl2: I know many of you love this restaurant and rave about it and I'm happy you do, but our review is :crazy2: yuck. Unless you like unique food, you'll be joining the rest of us eating off the children's food section. We started doing a visual survey and got the giggles...I swear that 40% of the adults were eating the kids stuff! I must admit they had very good prime rib, but I ate the mac and cheese, DH ate the rigatoni & meatballs and DD ate the chicken tenders and fries...all for the low price of $90! We tried, we really tried to find something we liked, but we just couldn't. Carrot and ginger soup, coconut rice (think uncle ben's meets mounds bar), watermelon rind salad, oxtail stew (bones included), beef and lamb something....sorry just couldn't handle it. The desserts were ok, but nothing I'd be in a hurry to have again. We went back to our hotel later that night and ate a pizza :teeth: we were so hungry! Although it did provide us with lots of jokes through the rest of our trip!

"Normal" food eaters beware! :scared1:
"Experimental" food eaters enjoy! ;)

okay jerseyite....

I'm with you...when we reviewed menus online before our trip we definitely ousted boma for dinner...

however, they were superb for breakfast...actually probably the best breakfast I have ever had in wdw...

so you say you got pizza for dessert... where did you find a pizza in Florida that you could eat?

After the dinner, the pizza at POR actually tasted good! :rotfl2: Well, okay, but we were comparing it to dinner, it's not like the pizza at home!

I am a Jersey Girl and for pizza- go to Denino's in Staten Island. There is nothing better. And yes, pizza and bagels are 2 things I do not order in Disney.

and please,,,,denino's brings back my youth where I could drink beer at 18 an still get great pizza....

bagel in florida..???? never,ever...even frozen bagel from supermarket is better...

I am really surprised at this. From your post, I can gather that you are only comfortable eating foods that you have regularly. Boma's menu changes on a regular basis and is a five-star restaurant. My boyfriend was initially hesistant when I said we were going for African cuisine, but figured that every culture eats meat and potatoes and went for it. It is now his favorite restaurant. The soups are outstanding and all foods have unique flavor. You really need to be one with an open mind to try different cuisines. I would suggest though that if you prefer a BBQ to a more fancy dish, then this would not be for you.

so sorry that you did not enjoy the food at dinner time, we were there last April and enjoy every bit of it... We have restaurant like this around our workplace and alot more... from Chinese to Jamaican which is why I guess we knew what we were getting into. Again sorry to hear about you guys being hungry!

Bayonne, downtown, about 4 minutes away from Staten Island. :flower:

Don't take my post wrong...I wasn't angry and it wasn't "Disney's fault". We gave it a try and just didn't like it. We got more laughs out of the experience and probably will for a long time to come! :rotfl2:
Life's too short not to laugh! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
