I have a strange little man. I asked him if he wanted to eat with the characters for his 5th bd on our Dec. trip and he said no. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "I'll see enough characters in the parks, I want some good, cool food". I asked where he thought he could get some "cool, good food"and he said he wants to eat at our hotel (AKL) and have "Africa food". My son is very adventurous when it comes to food. There hasn't been an ethnic group he hasn't liked after trying it. I thought Boma would be good due to his age, plus we get a variety of things to sample. What do you think, since this is not your typical childs celebration spot, could we possibly get a little BD celebration (meaning: attention) at Boma? He's not big on huge fanfare, I was just thinking a little cupcake and maybe having Happy BD sung to him. Do you think this is a possibility?

I say go for it and good for him. I too have an adventurous little eater. DD4 loves Boma. We went there for the first time on our August trip and she can't wait to go back. It will be a must-do for all future trips. The food is amazing. Boma is my favorite restaurant of all those I've tried at WDW.

From everything I have read, Boma sounds so yummy! I am still wondering about the BD cupcake etc. Anyone have any experience at this restaurant?

e were there in May for my daughter and Sister's b-day. They brought them each out a cake that was shaped like mickey with candy sprinkles. they loved it. The food was also wonderfull.

i'm sorry I don't have input on birthday celebrations at boma - just wanted to tell you both my DDs ages 6 and 10 loved Boma as did the rest of our group :)

Well I made my PS at Boma for DS BD. Thanks for the input. I think we made the right decision. By the way, after talking to WDW-Dine (where the CM did note it was my DS's BD), I called Boma directly and inquired about getting a cupcake for him and the CM told me that they usually do that automatically if we just remind the CM checking us in at the restaurant that it is his bd. She also said, with her very authentic African accent (which I found so cool!), "Don't worry, we will take care of some magic for your little ones special day." I thought that was really neat. I just hope they do come through.

They did exactly that (cupcake with edible Mickey confetti) and a song for my dad (his 69th), so if asked they'd probably do the same for your son.
