Boma- Breakfast or Dinner?

Now that "free" dining (free! it will cost me my room discount) has opened up for December, I'm thinking of finally getting to Boma. We want to check out the resort for a possible future stay, but have also heard great things about the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner.

Right now I have ADR's for a late breakfast, but since we must use the Disney bus system to get there from POFQ, I'm starting to think a dinner after an AK day might work out better. Just seems that a late breakfast could conceivably eat up (ha) an entire morning, and we'd have to get up freakishly early if we wanted an early breakfast to leave enough time for the buses. My DH won't consider getting a cab - I've tried.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't do dinner again. We did not like the food, not that it was bad but I wish that someone would've warned me of the spices they use.

Thinking "spices" we thought hot, spicey but infact African spices are mainly sweet like cinnamon and fruits. It was in everything! Even the meat was rubbed with cinnamon....something I do not like.
All the dishes had an overwhelming sweetness to it, was like eating dessert for dinner. (if you like that you are in luck)

Like I said, not bad food, but if I had known even the meat would be sweet I would've used my credit for something else.

People love Boma, so bad food isn't the issue it is being prepared for the taste of it.

(on a side note, DH is a adventerous eater and a sweet tooth, even he didn't like it....)

Thanks for the review- my DH is NOT an adventurous eater and I think the odd spices might be too much for him. (I've never braved Marrakesh either, for the same reason).

Looks like breakfast might be our best bet.

I am not a brave eater at all but I really like Boma for dinner. They have both exotic stuff and normal stuff. Not everything is spicy.

I would do dinner only because to me breakfast was just normal breakfast food...nothing special which for me means it wasn't worth the price or the dining credit. However - people rave about both so I may have missed something with the breakfast.

I am picky, DBF is not. I did not like the dinner and would not go back. He liked it but doesn't mind that I won't return. We stayed at AKL last year and booked the breakfast. We both really liked the variety. We actually went for a second breakfast later in the trip since we liked it so much.

We did both breakfast and dinner at Boma and loved both. The food at dinner is unusual but very good once you try it.

Love Boma and prefer dinner. I like the wide selection and quality. Love the different soups and carving table.

I've found that a big breakfast is not conducive to effective park touring, so we really don't do the breakfasts anywhere anymore. The Boma breakfast is good, however. Love the frunch. But dinner is better.

I thought dinner at Boma was fabulous.

Next trip I am doing dinner and breakfast.

Since your meal is "free", go for the dinner.

(you might want to do the math - free dining vs. your room discount. sometimes the room discount is better deal)

We have gone for breakfast and dinner. We love breakfast and not thrilled with dinner (we did try dinner 2x to give it a chance but we have tried and neve again dinner but Breakfast is AMAZING...great coffee)

We were not big fans of dinner, but breakfast is the best at WDW in our opinion. Boma Breakfast is a must do for us :thumbsup2

Both meals are good, so I would pick which ever one best fits your schedule. You really can't go wrong either way.

Have done both several times, and I've got to go against the majority and recommend breakfast. It's quieter (well, less loud), I love the sunlight coming in, and the scrambled eggs and goat cheese:thumbsup2
