I'm reposting this from a thread I replied to, but didn't get any answers from. I'm hoping as a post of its own someone can help me out. I've added a couple questions too.

I'm renting points from a friend of mine for Jan 2011. I've heard tales of people trying to add DDP but being told they have to wait til the rate and prices come out officially. So my questions are:

Is this true? Do I have to wait to add my DDP to my DVC booked reservation?

How do I make my ADRs if I'm not on the plan? I know I can make ADRs no matter where I'm saying, but what do I do if I call for my ADRs when they ask if I have the plan? Say "I'm going to add it later"? Does the online reservation system ask if your on the plan?

Assuming I can't add the DDP yet, but still make the reservations saying I don't have it, how do I let them know when I add it? Do I even really have to let them know?

Sorry if this is confusing, just trying to get this all worked out

Also, I've heard good and bad things about booking my ADRs online. I looked at the site and it doesn't seem difficult to do. Is the site lulling me into a false sense of comfort? I'm afraid I'll book them all and then call to change something and find out they have no record of my reservations. Am I being paranoid or is this a legitimate concern? Is there a time of day it "opens"?"

TIA and hopefully someone will have some answers for me

Whether or not you're on the plan when you make ADRS matters only if you want to avoid prepayment for CRT or a dinner show. If you want one of those, call. Tell the cast member you intend to go on the dining plan. Otherwise just make dining reservations like you normally would, and you do NOT have to let them know when you do add a dining plan, it makes no difference to your ADR whether you have one or not.

And your friend that is the DVC member will have to add the plan for you, you cannot do it.

At this point in time, you pay for that upon check-in at the resort, but that might be changing to a pre-payment in the future. DVC said "in the fall" or "late 2010" or something like that.

But yes, I understand that DVC members are being told they can't add the DDP yet - not until DVC negotiates the member price with Disney for the dining plans.

Ok thank you. I'm not doing any of the shows so that works out...

Does the DVC member have to add it even though the reservation has my name on it?

Yes, because it has to be added through DVC Member Services and they will only speak to the member, not a renter or guest.

Does the DVC member calling also hold true for adding my park tickets and DME?

DME I believe so, from reports I've seen.

But you can't purchase park tickets through DVC member services at all. You will have to buy those direct from Disney or a reseller yourself. DVC doesn't sell tickets.

Thanks guys, this is the first time I've ever rented points on top of the first trip I've ever planned completely on my own, no parents no travel agent and I'm trying to make sure I have everything planned for.
