Since I've never done rope drop, I'm not the person to ask. But I am interested to read answers bc we are doing it this June.

Did ppo breakfast at BOG Tuesday which was also EMM. We ended up getting an earlier reservation at 8:05 and ordered ahead. Got through the gate around 7:40. Lots of nice pics along the way. Checked in right at 8:05 and on our way by 8:35. At 8:40 we were riding SDMT. They were letting everyone on. Some of the EMM guests were upset saying they paid a lot of money to have the park to themselves. I do understand that, but it was nice for us. One thing I hadn't factored in was that when we arrived at the park the monorail from parking wasn't running and we had to take the ferry. This added at least 10-15 min to our travel time. If I had known that I would've just taken the Disney bus from our resort. Overall a good experience and I would do it again.

I have done this twice.
Go right to BOG at 8. All PPOs get in. Preorder your food. You will be out before nine if you follow this plan.

Even faster if you order your food before getting to the restaurant (or before getting to the park). My experience (at lunch) is that the BOG "order at the kiosk" line inside is much longer than the "pay for preorder" line.

Were other rides (Peter pan) open when you got on SDMT at 8:40 or is that special just for SDMT?

Yes Peter Pan was also. I heard from other guests that they were able to get on. We were in line for it around 8:55, but it had about 15 min wait at that point.
