I made reservations for BOG for my family as well as my sister's family. They are on the DDP whereas my family will be OOP. I read on the website that you can't order ahead if you want "split" checks, but are they able to split btwn DDP credits and cash? Could we ask at the register to deduct 4 QS credits and we'll pay the balance in cash..or is that considered "splitting" the check?

Thank you :)

i dont understand why you can't split a check, you still go to a CM where they ring up your order, i would think it would be simple enough to say you want X amount on the DDP and X amount OOP. Maybe there's more to it that im not aware of.

I know. I could understand if you had to pay ahead online and the form wouldn't allow it. But you have to physically pay at the register. So, if I did order ahead, and we got up to the register what would happen? They would either make us all pay cash or use all DDP credits??

You can't split a check across Dining Plans. There is one POS receipt.

You can split against ONE ROOM'S dining plan and charge the rest (cash) to the same MagicBand/room. Since you can't have DDP without having a room to charge against, you will need to get your sister to reimburse.

Are you going be eating any other CS meals with your sister? Apparently the DDP now allows people to use more CS credits than are in their room so they can treat friends and family to meals using their DDP credits. Perhaps you ask for your sister to "pay" for your BOG meals with CS credits and you can pay her back by paying OOP for an equal number of her CS meals as at different restaurant(s).

Unless I'm mistaken I think this is what she wants to do - sister is on the DDP and she's not, sister will use DDP credits and she wants to pay her share using cash/OOP.

We ran in to this same problem when pre ordering for our party of 10 (2 seperate rooms). Thanks to a tip here, I was able to make a second reservation for just 1 person under my aunt's name (reservations of 1 are fairly easy to come by if you check often or set up a Touring Plans search). Then I was able to pre-order my aunt's and her family's 3 meals on that reservation, even though the reservation was technically only for 1.

Note: I DID keep my aunt, uncle and cousin on my original reservation of 10 - I just didn't pre order their meals there, I only pre-ordered my family.

Kind of confusing but it works.

Or, if it's too much trouble - you can order when you get there and split the cheque. We just wanted to save as much time as possible and thankfully the Dis showed me a way it could work!

Issue would be that's two bands. It all has to be to the same room/band.

Right, so we have two separate rooms but just one BOG reservation. So could they take her 4 QS credits and then charge the balance to my room? Or is that splitting the check technically?

Could I just pre-order for my family only then and not the other 4 people on the reservation?

I guess I just don't get why they wouldn't be able to do it. Weird.

That would be splitting the cheque. You could pre order for your family only and they would order when they got there. Or, like I said - try to find a reservation for 1 around the same time to pre order their meals with

Is it just you two? Have her charge all 6 CS credits against her DDP and then you can pay for 2 CS meals for her at a different restaurant.

The way the order transmits to the POS does not allow them to be split. They cannot take more than one MB with PIN for a single transaction.

Ok...we'll just order when we get there. No biggie.

I'm always on the DDP and my first time OOP. Is this the case at other restaurants? We have a few group meals. Will they be able to split checks at the various restaurants?

Yes, you should be able to split checks just about everywhere else. I believe that the problem with BOG is when you pre-order. IMO you should do anything you can to avoid ordering at the restaurant. The line is quite long and if your sister orders in advance and you don't the timing on the meal will be way off.
