BOG Lunch--seat yourself?

Am I correct that lunch at BOG is seat yourself since it is quick service? We are a party of 7 and I was only able to get a reservation for 4 so far. However, there were several reservations for 1 available within 15 minutes of that time slot, so I had 3 members of the party each book a single reservation in that window. Will we be able to look for seating together once we're all in? TIA

1) Sometimes.
2) If they are crowded, you may be stuck with and at separate tables.
3) It all depends upon the crowd size and the willingness of the CM's.
4) After all, the FP's were given out based upon capacity and table availability. *
5) Plus, they need to seat the other guests and accommodate their group size for the FP's and ADR's. *

* How would you feel if the tables were gone for your FP or ADR because other guests combined tables from different FP's or ADR's?

Be Our Guest is open seating for lunch yes. You aren't guaranteed to be able to sit together but they do have quite a few large tables so you may be lucky. Make sure the later group pre-orders their meals so that they'll be in as soon as possible rather than having to queue at the kiosks :)

it is just like going into a quick service seating area, it's all open for taking, and you should get a table based on your party size. just have everyone sit together, but the hard part is finding a big enough table! that will be your challenge everywhere you go unless it's a TS and the CM's seat you. It may take awhile to look through the huge space and all the people to find a big enough spot. However, there are 3 rooms. You'll be fine!

This is my concern. Not to knock the OP, but we do have an ADR for 7. With the self seating, I am a bit concerned there won't be an appropriately sized table available.

If what is essentially 4 parties share one table, that makes it possible that my party has to split up. That isn't right.

Keep in mind, you couldn't book an adr for 7 because there were no tables available for that size group. This means that if you take a table to fit your entire party, you're taking it from someone who indeed did book for that. It could certainly be a problem for you and for the people who did reserve an adr for the correct number in their group.

We booked our 5 adr's in 2 groups ( 1 for 3, 1 for 2) for a BOG breakfast due to wanting an 8am adr. We understand that we will only use the appropriate size table for each group.

It might be hard to find a table for 7, but I think you would be able to find a couple of 4 top tables close to each other. It's not like the restaurant has tables that only seat 1 anyway.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond! I had a bit of good luck and as I continued to re-check an ADR for 7 opened up which I was able to grab. Having never been before, I was trying to figure out how a reservation at a quick service location worked when it came for seating. It sounds like even with our new ADR, it's still up to us to find a table big enough or else split up near each other. That's just like any food court situation which is perfectly fine. I'm just excited to have gotten an ADR and to see the castle. Thank you all again!

Will it really be that big of a deal if some family members sit a few tables away? It'll work out fine. Don't worry.

Exactly! Despite the fact that you have an ADR this is still a seat yourself quick service location. Expect that you may not be sitting all together... You wouldn't expect a table of 7-8 to be instantly available for any other quick service location and it's the same at BOG. You may either have to wait for a large table or split up.

Yes you booked for 7 and some may not see this as 'fair' but even if a Cast Member seats you they put you on the next available table no matter what the size. We were a party of three and didn't want to take a large table so we asked a cast member for help but she sat us at a six top... and we then invited another family of three to join us... Was that fair? Probably not but we were simply doing as instructed. As mentioned the ADR system just fills the restaurant to capacity even if that means having people sit on tables with strangers... as seen by the fact that you managed to get reservations for 1 when there are no tables for 1...

Chances are you'll be fine, but be prepared to split up - same as you would at any other crowded QS location.

Really though no one stops anyone from taking a larger table than they need so it could be any number of issues that lead to no 8 top available for a large party. Parties of one or two could take up 4 tops, parties of four could decide to sit at a 6 top so on and so forth. I would imagine Disney has to take this into account when they take reservations but allow people to seat themselves and leave a certain number of tables free at all times.

I certainly hope so.

There are hardly any small tables at BOG. I ate by myself there last week and found someone sitting by herself at a table for 6 and sat with her. They have no idea by reservations who is sitting with who and when people seat themselves many were sitting at bigger tables than they need don't worry about it. If your group is divided and you want to be sure the food all comes out together you can order as many meals as you want on pre-order. They check you off in terms of showing up for your reservation when you check in. I also wasn't sure which dessert I wanted so I ordered both on pre-order and then before paying when they confirm your order just told them I didn't want one of the cupcakes. Super easy and saves a lot of time not having to get in the line for ordering.
