I have searched high and low on these forums looking for an answer and have found conflicting results. So I thought I would ask straight out...

If we have the regular dining plan, what is available for dessert with the kids meals (3-9) for the lunch quick service and the dinner table service meals. Will they be able to have a cupcake without paying out of pocket or using a snack credit?

Thanks so much for any help with an answer!

It's a cookie at lunch (or, it was in Nov, and I doubt that changed).
We used their snack credits to get them cupcakes.

It looks like (from other posts) that at dinner they can get a cupcake, but I have no first hand knowledge of that.

The PP is correct. At lunch the children's dessert is a cookie. You would have to use a snack credit or pay OOP for a cupcake. At dinner it includes the cupcake.

Can adults get a cupcake at launch for desert or does it still cost a snack credit?

yes adults can get a cupcake. the issue is that the children's dessert is included on the children's menu at lunch and it's either a cookie or applesauce. Not a cupcake.

We're pretty big eaters and were happy to share our cupcakes from the adult meals so the kids still got the "cool" dessert, but PPs are right - no cupcake with kids meal unless you pay or use snack credit.

I don't see the cookie listed anywhere on the menu? Is this maybe because I am looking at the peanut/tree nut free options? If so, does it mean my children don't get a dessert because they have allergies?

Just answered my own question. The cookie isn't listed as an option because of the allergy.

Silly question....but are desserts ever included for the kids? I know it is always included for adults.... So is it just BOG that doesn't let them order a separate dessert? Or are all places like that?

At TS restaurants where you order from a menu, many will often have 2 or 3 choices listed on the kids menu and they'll be able to choose one. At BOG at dinner (TS) it includes their choice of one of the cupcakes/cream puffs, but at BOG lunch (CS) the cupcake/cream puff isn't a child's option unless paid for OOP or with a snack credit on the dining plan. At most CS there isn't a separate dessert menu on the children's menu. Usually it's a cookie, applesauce, or apple slices that can be chosen as one of their 2 sides.

Yes desserts are included for the kids...but they must be chosen from the desserts listed on the children's menu. There are a few places (like Sunshine Seasons) where the children can select the same dessert anyone else can select. BoG does something different with their lunch and dinner menus. While the cupcake or other regular dessert selection is included in the children's menu for dinner, it is not for lunch.

A lot of kids menus at WDW will give you a list of items they can order as "sides" as part of the kids' meal, and then say they can order two of those. One or both of them may be a dessert-type item, depending on what items are listed. they will usually list a selection of things like apple slices, grapes, carrots, a cookie, applesauce, yogurt. And you can ask for french fries in most places, but they won't list them.

Sunshine Seasons they are supposed to get a kids dessert from the regular listing too but depending on the cashier they usually seem to let people go rather than raise an issue. At BOG they carry an allergy safe enjoy life cookie they can give to nut allergic kids but in that situation they may allow you to have the cupcake as it's one of the only places at WDW with a nut free bakery. They just have to leave the pearls off. At some meals allergies work out in your favor and some meals you end up with no dessert at all. BOG though the chefs are very understanding of the nut allergy and baked goods issue.
