We have a dinner ADR for BOG in 2 weeks (eek!) and I have a couple of questions. DH and DD are foodies and would seriously eat anything on the menu, but I'm a picky eater so I like to come up with a couple of choices for myself in advance. For those who have been there recently...has anyone ordered the shrimp & scallops? I have been looking at reviews and I keep reading that it used to be served in a puff pastry. What is it served in/on now? And has anyone ever just ordered 2 appetizers for dinner? Would that be ok? If I could order mussels and a salad, that would be amazing (would that be enough for a hungry adult for dinner?)...it would come to the same price as an entree, but I have no idea if that's allowed! :) Anything else we should know? I'm so unbelievably excited to just be in the castle...dinner is an added bonus. :)

If you are paying out-of-pocket, you can order whatever you want. I frequently order two appetizers for my meal.

First, I think it's funny you consider yourself a picky eater, but you eat mussels!

As PP said, if you're paying OOP and NOT on the DDP, then you can definitely order whatever you want. Three of us went in Nov. Two ordered an entree to share, and I ordered an app and dessert. No problem at all.

Yeah, I know. :) I actually really like seafood and I do eat some chicken - no other meat - so that's what's tripping me up with this one. We always joke that my DD (7) is ODDLY picky - she won't touch "kid" foods - no hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, or fast food - but loves everything else. :)

Anyone with experience on the shrimp & scallops?

If you like steak, we loved the steak at BOG - my entire family got one and we all loved it! But if you're not on the DDP, yes, get any appetizers you want.

Also, since you love seafood, I recommend Cape May Cafe at dinner if you've never eaten there. My husband and I love seafood and that was one of our favorite buffets!

There are no rules to ordering food.

It is not uncommon for people to have varying degrees of appetite.

We are a family of 'foodies' and very much enjoy the relative value for dinner at Be Our Guest (the only time/place to take pictures with The Beast).

Shrimp & Scallop is now tossed with pasta.

I only eat salmon and rarely will eat chicken. I got the seasonal sustainable catch du jour and discovered there was bacon in the sauce once I got it. It doesn't say that on the menu so just an FYI in case you end up ordering it :)

DD16 loves the mussels at BOG, and always gets that and a dessert for dinner there. She's not a big eater -- plus, she always fills up on bread. But, mussels and a salad or soup would be a great dinner, and no problems ordering. I really like their potato leek soup.

I'm a picky eater.....no mussels for me :rotfl: DH had that dish though and really liked it. It was served over pasta.
I always get the steak at dinner.

Haven't tried the shrimp & scallops, but I did do the salmon, it was just ok. I learned from my previous trips that Disney entrees are quite large so sharing is a great idea. Also I wouldn't call BOG a place for foodies. It's more for the ambiance.

Yes as another poster has said the shrimp and scallops is with pasta now. I had it and while it was good, I think it was a little too garlicky for me. I ate the shrimp and scallops and gave my ds the pasta. He said he thought it was seasoned well and not too garlicky for him.

I also dont like the dressing on the regular salad. The salad trio is a little on the small size.

The scallops come with pasta, kinda like pappradelle noodles and my husband loved it. He got mussels for an app and that could've been a meal, it was huge and yummy. I got the braised beef and it was really good and I think it came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I got the potato leek soup and it was great as well!
