BOG dinner disappointment

I briefly considering BOG for January but decided against it. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm not a fan of meat so the majority of the menu didn't really appeal to me. Normally I just eat an appetizer and a dessert for a cheaper meal but none of the appetizers really appealed to me. I'm sure the menu will change a little once the newness of it dies down and then I might try it.

Bummer that you didn't enjoy your dinner. We had an *amazing* server (IMO that can make such a huge difference!). My son had the steak and it was good. I had the salmon and really enjoyed it! My husband had the chicken, I believe, and he said it was fine. I had the strawberry cupcake for dessert and was really impressed.

It's not the type of food I would normally choose to eat, but we had a great experience nonetheless. I really am sorry you didn't enjoy it.

I guess it's all to do with realistic expectations! We ate there about 14 days +/- from opening and we sampled pretty much every entre, soup etc. and were happy with the food! We ate there again in Jun and yet again the food was more than acceptable, skipped the scallop and shrimp dish this time! Is it 4-5 stars, absolutely not, but unless you are willing to leave MK and head to another park or resort restaurant, there's no where else to eat or pick from unless you like tepid buffet food or Tony's ! :scared1:

And the fact that we can have really good beer and wine with dinner makes it all the more acceptable!

The buzz when it opened was people hated the menu and how could it have such a restricted menu, yada, yada, yada! Guess what, menu hasn't changed, it's still packed! Is it the best food I've ever had, no but then I don't head to a theme park in anticipation of those dinners!

That stinks :( - I guess we're just going to also be one of those people paying to meet the beast and see the place!

I have to second the unrealistic expectations. My family had both lunch and dinner at BOG in March. I know that not every restaurant will appeal to everyone, but I think many of the negative reviews can be attributed to expectations that can't be met.

DH & I often say sometimes the idea of something is better than the reality of that thing.

We plan on going back on our next trip because all of my brood enjoyed both meals so much

OP, sorry you did not enjoy your dining experience at BOG.

We actually had dinner there in April, and my family of four LOVED everything about it. The food, the ambience, the service.

I had been truly worried about the food based on reviews I had read here, but our dinner was sooooooo good! (We all had steak)

We are looking forward to booking there again next year! :goodvibes

I have to agree with OP. LOVED the atmosphere and the whole idea, but food was lacking. My daughter's steak was good - she ate every bite. But the pork chops were pretty much tasteless. The mac n cheese was awesome! Wish it was bigger! It wasn't terrible, but our bill for our family of 4 was over $200! Gasp!!

I would agree about the steak-my son loved the butter that came on it. I just had the expectations that were too high! My husband said the beer was good too! As I said, it was not terrible, but for the price I'd rather go to Jiko!!

I was able to snag an ADR for BOG for our trip in October. Excited to try it, but from everything I've read so far, lunch seems to be getting better reviews...wondering if we should keep our ressie or eat elsewhere and just eat at BOG for lunch??

We have a reservation but maybe I will tell my family it is soup and desserts! I would cancel but it will be my DD 22 BD.

Ate there on thursday and thought it was pretty good. Had the French onion soup, steak, and shrimp & scallops. Ha the chocolate and lemon cupcakes for dessert. The shrimp and scallops were nice and peppery and quite good.

We have eaten dinner there twice and on both occasions, it was one of our favorite meals. I really enjoyed the salmon and all of us loved the mussels as our appetizer. Going back in September for another dinner.'

I had dinner there a few nights ago and the food was fine, not spectacular but good. One thing to note on the salmon though, it is cooked to medium. If you prefer it more well done, you need to let them know. With the lighting it can be difficult to see what you are eating. Wondering if that may be part of the issue with other meats as well.

We ate there for both lunch and dinner during our trip this past May. Lunch was OK, but we were not impressed with dinner either. It was a little over $100.00 for me and my husband. I didn't even order an entree and instead ordered the salad trio (as did my husband) for an appetizer, then ordered the mussels and meat/sausage appetizers as my entree, while my husband orderd a really dry chicken dish that was a special that night, then we both got one of those small cupcakes. We could have eaten at a Signature restaurant and gotten better food and service. The atmosphere is nice, but the food and service just did not measure up.

Unless I'm mistaken, BOG isn't a Signature restaurant. New, yes, but not a Signature.

Keep the ADR and go for yourself! We loved it as did many. Just remember that you will almost always hear more complaints than compliments its human nature and everyone has different tastes, expectations and assumptions.

We are in the camp of the "will not go there again"

We went for dinner 2 weeks ago while on vacation. 9 off us so not a small party, and no one was thrilled with the meal. The menu choices were OK.

I ordered the french onion soup and steak for dinner. But I could not finish my dinner after getting violently ill from my soup. After much urging from my family I told the waitress, speicifcally since I was not the only one. There were several other ladies just as bad off in the restroom as I was, and we all ate the french onion soup. Weird time to bond with other visiting guests, lol! I just wanted to let her know that there may be something wrong with the soup before they continue to serve it, since it was not just me and I was not sure if anyone else would let them know. Some people are uncomfortable with that sort of stuff. I am an outspoken NYer.

She thanked me and than the chef came to the table. I told her as well and she was a bit abrupt with, 'why is there something else I can get you, more water?" I told her no, I just wanted to make sure they know. I did not ask to speak with the chef, I just wanted to alert the waitress. And she left. OK. That was a bit uncomfortable. When the bill came, they removed the cost of my soup. Honestly, they should have removed the cost of my dinner as well since I could not eat it, but whatever. that was not the reason I told them and I was not in the mood to argue with them.

It was not a positive experience and I will not be revisiting.

Im sorry the soup wasn't good for you. I had it in May and had no issues other than it was so good I wanted more LOL
Thank you for alerting the staff though. Too many people wouldn't have done that
