Glad we did it, but the food was not good. We did love the atmosphere and meeting the Beast! But I felt like we spent $140 for a walk thru the castle and a picture. We are foodies, but I was willing to take the chance even though I had seen other bad reviews. We had the salmon, steak, pork chop, and shrimp and scallops. WE all kind of shared to see if it was just our own meal that was bad. Only the steak was good, not great, but good. The rest was pretty tasteless. The shrimp was very fishy tasting and the pastry around it was soggy. We all decided that we could do without ever going back. OR if we do-sticking to lunch! Now we had a Kobe burger at Yak and Yeti earlier in the day that was fabulous!!!!

thanks for the warning!:(

i love yak & yeti but have never tried the burger. :thumbsup2 i will next time if i can give up the ribs. thanks.

The more I read, the more I'm okay with the fact that we're just going for lunch. I had dinner ADRs for our trip next month and for several reasons decided to cancel and just do lunch there instead. In general, the menu sounds more appealing to us anyway!

I have a feeling this one is really more about the atmosphere and being able to say you've been in the castle than the actual food!

We are still raving about the burger with mushrooms on it 3 days later! My boys want to go back to AK just to eat there!

Sorry about your disappointing experience at BOG dinner. It's true that no restaurant is for everybody. We have gone for lunch three different times, had the braised pork & french onion soup, and all 3 times were outstanding. We have no desire to go for dinner (cancelled a ressie we had) because we were so happy with our lunch experience.

Have to agree with you about dinner. We had our 40th anniversary dinner there in May and were really disappointed with the food. Loved the atmosphere though which made our anniversary special.

I've never darkened the doors of the place but that menu, food pics, and bad reviews convinced me to cancel our dinner there too. We will try lunch instead.

I asked my dgd if lunch was ok with her since it was her pick and she was fine with it. She don't care, she just wants to see it and I do too. Plus, the ADR was at 4:15 on our MNSSHP day and I can't see us all in costume, not able to enter until 4:00 and rushing trying to make it on time. Not worth it for mediocre food and cupcakes to me.

Count us in for lunch only too!!

We had a similar experience back in December- food was mediocre at best, service was terrible that night. THe best part was the strawberry cupcake - it was truly wonderful. We'll be trying lunch there this year (so I can still get that cupcake!).

Just had lunch and dinner there on my July trip. Both of my meals were wonderful. I had the French Onion Soup and Croque Monsieur for lunch and the Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop - with au gratin macaroni for dinner. The Pork was wonderful and I loved the au gratin macaroni. The rest of my party seemed to enjoy their lunch more than their dinner. Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style), Mickey Meatloaf vs Grilled Strip Steak, Layered Ratatouille, Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops. I will say that at lunch you are served French Fries and at Dinner you are served Pommes Frites. We loved the cupcakes and cream puffs. Try the Grey Stuff, it is delicious!

We ate there in April for dinner and I was not impressed with the food either. Maybe next time we will try lunch.

We had lunch there in feb and canceled our coveted dinner ressie for later in the week. The food was ok and it was fun for lunch. But i just felt we could have a better dinner elsewhere.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner. We had a fabulous dinner there on May and are looking forward to another dinner in Nov! We had the steak and pork as entrees and both were excellent, flavorful and tender. We are also foodies and wasn't expecting a lot. We were pleasantly surprised!

This is OT, but I think that Yak & Yeti is one of WDW's hidden gems. I LOVE the Ahi Tuna Salad and the Fried Won Tons :woohoo:. They also do an excellent job of adjusting their menu for my vegetarian DD. An added bonus is that you can always do a walk up for lunch right when it opens even during Christmas/New Year's week.

We do have an ADR for 12/30 at BOG. We'll be in the MK for the NYE fireworks on 12/30 and I thought it would be a nice way to spend some time in a very busy park. We used to consider ourselves "foodies" but we have found the majority of the WDW restaurants to be so lacking I don't get my hopes up for a great meal anymore.

We're going for dinner out of curiosity in October but our expectation level is pretty low food wise, at least there is Saison Dupont and Chimay Blue to compensate.

Chimay Blue is my husband's favorite beer. I'm telling him to order one and keep expectations low when it comes to the food. My oldest daughter is the one who really wants to eat here - she plans to get the mussels appetizer. I'm probably sticking to the appetizers as well.

We had dinner at BOG a few weeks ago and came out with what seems to be the typical review -- i.e., pretty good food in a really cool atmosphere. Probably the nicest food in the MK and potentially the best food (slight difference in "nice" and "best," mind you, although not sure what else I would call the "best" if not BOG). None of it was bursting with flavor, but at the same time, the flavor that was there was not bad...just underwhelming. I suppose that's why restaurants put salt and pepper on a table, eh?!

On the plus side, the menu covers a nice variety of "proteins" (to use a foodie term), the desserts are good (although I'm in the camp that still can't quite figure out why they limit themselves exclusively to cupcakes and cream puffs...I was all too happy to defer my MK dessert to a Citrus Swirl later that night and get my cupcake(s) at Starring Rolls in DHS), and the atmosphere is, again, really cool. We had a table right next to a "snowing" window, and we enjoyed our self-guided tour around the other dining rooms, as well as photos with the Beast after dinner and the hall of armor as we left.

All in all, it's sort of like CRT in that you should go for the experience at least once, at least to enjoy the theming. There's nothing like BOG in any of the parks, so the uniqueness of it all is worth something. And the prices really aren't awful, particularly compared to some of the signature restaurants at WDW.
