We at at BOG Restaurant on 7/29. I was only able to secure a 9:15 reservation prior to our trip. However, we arrived at the castle approximately 1 hour early and I asked if we might check-in early. The CM politely reminded me of the 15 minute check-in and said that she would check if we could (she was very nice about it and I completely understood if we couldn't). She radioed back and was given the go ahead to allow us to check-in. We waited approximately 5 minutes and our buzzer went off signaling us to walk over to the "Gatekeeper" and hand in our buzzer. We were then wisked off to to our table the main dining hall was very loud and I was not able to completely hear the host and he was quite brisk and shot on explanations. We were seated in the "Rose Room" with the life sized music box replica of Beauty and the Beast and were told to wait until we ate to walk around and take photos.

Our waitress took quite a long time coming (our dining room was not full at all there were a number of empty tables) and was not especially personable. I did notice that there were kiosks on one wall where the waitstaff could enter orders. Our waitress brought our drinks, took our orders and mentioned "I will bring you some bread"...she never did, but brought bread to the newly seated table next to us and even looked at our table. My daughter had the French onion soup appetizer (brought by someone else). Our waitress returned and I mentioned the bread (she seemed surprised!). About 5 minutes later we received some very hard rolls (read: stale and over warmed). Approximately 15 minutes later our dinner entrees arrived. My mother and I both had the chicken dish and my dd11 had the scallops w/shrimp. The chicken dish was covered with spaghetti sauce (looked and tasted just like Ragu) with some small tomatoes (their names escape me) chopped in half in the sauce. The chicken was ok and quite bland...the whole dish was bland except for the Ragu style sauce. My dd11's scallops and shrimp were in a edible bowl...which she did not care for. She did eat and liked the scallops but did not care for all the shrimp. We then chose dessert and as we were celebrating my birthday I was given a small dollop of The Grey Stuff...basically oreo cookie mousse portion of which was approximately the size of a half dollar. My mother and I both chose a strawberry cupcake and my daughter the passion fruit cream puff...the desserts were delicious and very small (except for the cream puff). During the dinner, the Beast was announced and sort of waved into the room...so quickly my daughter missed it. Then the Beast was "taking visitors" which the line was so long we skipped it.

My daughter did get the punch in a Souvenieer Cup and that was a large castle replica cup of which the base lights up and changes color. This was a surprise for her so she LOVED it!!!

Nobody felt like looking around the castle so we left directly. The main dining room was just a large room...although our smaller room was nicely decorated. I did notice the lunch order podiums which look out of place in a nice restaurant.

Overall impression...we thought the food was ridiculously priced for the quality and were disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and we will NOT return. I received and email inviting us to an "exclusive test lunch" which I happy we did not take advantage off as it would have meant two less than stellar meals in one day. :crazy2: We were not on the dining plan and our bill was $171.11 (including tip)

I suppose it is worth trying once, but I know we all agree that we will not return to this one.

We too were underwhelmed by BOG. Not as bad as your experience, but I don't think we will return any time soon.

Now, lunch on the other hand, was quite good, esp for a QS. I will definitely go for lunch. I am very glad we ate lunch there prior to dinner, or we might have made the same choice as you.

Whoa that is very expensive! I can't figure out how it cost that much. Sorry you had such a terrible experience.

WOW! So sad to hear you had a bad experience:sad1: We just got ressies for Nov and now I am scared!:sad2:

We have a reservation in November for dinner. Pretty sure we will cancel. Such a shame that so many have had such a bad experience at BOG.

Sorry to read about your bad experience. We ate dinner at BoG in March and loved it. We had a very good waitress and the food was excellent. I have to say with the prices you pay at WDW the food and service should be excellent every night.

Thanks for the review! Maybe we will try the lunch then! Anyone happen to know the lunch hours? I see that dinner is 4-9:30, but can't find CS lunch hours. Thanks!

Sorry to hear. We were there the same night for a 4:00 ressie and had a wonderful experience.
We were actually there the night before and my son was sick so we had to leave just after ordering drinks. Our waitress and Management worked with us and invited us back the following night depending on how DS was doing. He did better the next day so we were able to make the reservation.
With being one of the first reservations for the evening, the wait staff lined the entrance way and cheered as each family's name was called and they walked in.
We sat in the main ballroom, right against the large picture window and our waitress again was wonderful. We were invited to walk around and take pictures as much as we wanted to even before eating.
DH and I both had the french onion soup which we liked and the shrimp/scallop which he said was "OK". I enjoyed it but would have preferred also more scallops and less shrimp. The kids split one of the kid's chicken dinners which wasn't too bad but the pasta was very basic. We passed on dessert as we were planning on ice cream later.
I guess I'm in the minority that I enjoyed my dinner there - maybe because in part that is my favorite movie and I'm just a kid at heart and was excited to be there.
We also didn't see the Beast but that was a decision made by DD and DS - DD(5) thought he was scary so of course DS(2) agreed

I think any positive reviews are great. It just didn't happen that way for us. Unfortunately, poor service and mediocre food made for quite a lackluster and disappointing dining experience. I do hope the good reviews will pick up, we just will not return.
