BOG breakfast for Mine train warning! Early ride not guaranteed

How is it abuse to get a pre-park ADR and not use it and pay the cancellation fees? Any more than missing any ADR and getting hit with fees?

This may be a little OT but....

How about making BOG breakfast a prepaid like they do with dinner shows. If you paid for 5 guests then 5 people get to come in early. Encourage people to pre-order when they make their ADR. Have a seperate line for people who did not pre-order or who want to modify their order in some way. That would eliminate some of the other issues mentioned and hopefully speed up the line...

Yeah, I think if they want to stop people wanting to get a few rides in early, they could easily to move to something like that or even a higher cancellation fee as a deterrent. No need to make people go to the back of the line.

I have heard from a few CM friends that they were getting a lot of people having an ADR, getting in the park early but not actually going to eat. That might be the reason why they are changing things...
This isn't new though, people have been doing this for years. This practice just became more popular when Anna and Elsa rolled on to the scene in EPCOT. I'll admit it, we made an 8am Akershus and didn't eat, just to get in line. We were about 20 people back when we arrived, and by the time the first wave of rope droppers arrived shortly after 9am they were already forming the 10am line.

I agree with the higher cancellation fee. The other issue with people booking that early ADR and not using it is they are taking that ADR from a family that would actually use it. Especially at the higher demand places like BOG, CP and Akershus. Seems just a little extra selfish to me.

No judgement on you personally, but here's why I'm against this: yes, you're still paying a small cancellation fee, but you're also taking away the experience from people who actually wanted to eat.

Obviously the 'fairness' angle isn't going to stop people, and I'm not even arguing 'fairness' in terms of getting line early. But with very high-in-demand reservations, you're filling a table with some ~dubious~ work-around plan over people who want a reservation for its actual purpose - eating. Do unto others as you'd want them to do to you, and all that jazz.

And I'm totally using 'you' in the general sense, not the calling YOU out specifically. :flower:

Its ok, you could call me out personally and I wouldn't be offended, because we still got to see Anna and Elsa with only a 20 minute wait as opposed to a 4 or 5 hour wait like it was at the time. I realize that people like to call others out for being selfish, or greedy, and that people love to throw around the word "fair", but honestly, this is Disney World, not Animal Farm. Nothing in life is "fair", not even in the Magic Kingdom. Its every family for themselves. The only thing that anyone really should worry about during a vacation is their own family's experience. I've said this many times here on the Dis', I don't give two hoots about anyone else's family. If there is something I can do to make my experience better, I'll do it. I paid the no-show price, and it was worth every penny.

The abuse comes into play because you're actively preventing another guest the opportunity to have the reservation. I don't know if I like the term "abuse" in regards to it. Intent makes it different, IMO.

All I can say is WOW! :scared: I seriously hope I am never vacationing at the same time as your family.

It wouldn't change the situation much from no-shows who cancel for legitimate reasons, like a family illness or emergency. Yeah, fairness and everything, but that reservation was cancelled and the other family who "missed it" still doesn't have one regardless of cancellation reason.

Agreed! We all want our family to have the best time possible, but I would never begrudge another family a chance at a highly sought after ADR simply to save a few minutes of waiting in line.

Meh, not offended. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I agree, I think abuse is a strong word. Disney could take care of this if they wanted to (like someone mentioned, make all pre-park-opening ADRs full payment required or something like that)

The actual outcome wouldn't change, sure, but the motivations sure do make a difference in the whole karmic balance of the universe. (heh). ;)

Ultimately, I guess you have to chock it up to different ... idk, morals is not the right word, but driving life principles? I'm not going to use the words 'greedy' or 'selfish' because really, I think we've all made similar decisions at some point in our life. It's human. But I definitely believe that if everyone tried to treat others like they wanted to be treated, the world would be a better place.

I don't really have time for people who are all in it for themselves, but what goes around comes around.

Fair enough. To play devil's advocate though, I don't THINK there would be any family out there who planned to intentionally cancel out of malicious intent of another family not being able to get the ADR. If there are people out there who do that, then by all means pray for their souls.
