BOG breakfast for Mine train warning! Early ride not guaranteed

Okay, I haven't read ALL of the 18 pages of comments, so I may have missed this one.

Why did people wait? I'm a rule follower like most people, but if 1 or 2 CM's told me I had to wait to leave BOG AFTER the park had opened, I would have said "Hey the park is open!" and walked past them. If they wanted to call security, then go for it. The park was open, I'm done with and paid for my breakfast, let me at the rides!!!!

Now I can see the OP being so surprised or in the back or something. But now if it happened, I would think someone would be brave enough to say "No way Jose!"

That's what I've been wondering since this thread started. I would have just said, "um no I'm not waiting" and gotten in line with the pack. I wouldn't be in the front, but also not dead last. Everyone at that point is still jockeying for position anyway.

Ok, all of you have good points, BUT..what actually would be the point of getting up extra early for a pre park open if the bonus was to stand in line with everyone else...if that is the way Disney feels about it then, why in the world are the restaurants open BEFORE the park opens?? Just make in mandatory across the board...they know fully well that is WHY people choose an early ADR.

I don't make a pre RD adr for this reason... I like walking up MainSt practically empty or in ak or hs it is so nice great picture opportunities and 1 time we got to ride up main st in the old car it was great. I have a FP for an attraction I don't make an ADR in order to get to attraction first. This is not new either.... at DHS I have always had pre park ADR at H&V in the old days of legacy FP we would leave the restaurantand had to follow the crowd to go grab a FP for TSMwe weren't allowed to go in first or cut the line or even go get in line stand by so this has been happening for some time now

Seems like some Cm interprets things as they seem fit. I remember one RD at HS. We were one of the first in the morning rush to TSM and most were going through the entrance by Little Mermaid. We walked directly to a CM that was standing near the steps to the side of the GMR. The CM there said the park was open and go wherever we wanted. Needless to say, we beat the others that went the long way by a good minute. Of course, another CM closer to the entrance told us to hold up since we had went the wrong way. I tried to contain most of my smile and laugh as we (and everyone else that was right behind us doing what we were told) went around her and directly to the ride. Of course this was also before the default of FP+ so we still had time to stop and get FP for later in the morning and join up with our party before the masses arrived.

Looking forward to hearing your report on BOG experience this morning (we also have an 8:05 ADR in late August). I really hope everything is going well for you, especially after the changes you had to make to your trip. Pixie dust to you for a great trip pixiedust:

It was a rainy morning. We finished BOG at about 8:45 and walked down to the castle walls near 7DMT. It was already running with guests on it. We were the first guests of the day to meet A&E. My DD was ecstatic. There were no CM's anywhere about to stop us or tell us to line up. Even though it was raining, we had a great day. Don't cancel, because BOG is a great place to dine. We had the cronut, the meat and cheese platter (unexpectedy good) and the kids each had a meal. The theming is amazing.

We got an 8:30AM ADR for BOG in a few weeks, but not because we want an easy Mine Train line... We just want to experience MK with little crowds! I purposely booked it at 8:30am so we can walk around Main Street and take our time with pictures at 8:00 before heading to eat. We have FP+ passes for the mine train later on!

Most people here seem to be agreeing with magicbob, as do I.

Having an early adr shouldn't guarantee you early ride access but it also should not punish you for being there already.

If this happened, I would probably just say, 'sorry, I'm not waiting', and proceed to get in line. How many threads do we read about more egregious behavior, where the CM does absolutely nothing. Do you think they will do anything here? No. Especially when all of the rest of the breakfast people follow right behind you.

I'm so with you! We have an 8:00 ADR in a few weeks, and the park opens at 9:00. I'd love to switch it to 8:30 (checking every once in a while) though.
We just want to enjoy the less crowded park, and have a FP+ for later on in the morning. I'm not sure what we'll do to kill the extra time until the park opens, but maybe we'll just enjoy our breakfast slowly and have coffee together. I'm not a big eater of breakfast lately, and even though we have the free QS dining plan, we'll decide that morning if we each order breakfast or will share. With the pastries, that looks like too much food for me that early! Or we'll bring the pastries out with us, who knows?
I have no issue with those getting there early and in line after breakfast. The ride is cute, but so is a lot of other stuff!

Even with an 8am ADR, your time will pass quickly I think...although the park "opens" at 9am, typically rope drop guests are entering the park as early as 8:45am.

We also have the Free QS Dining. I'm not a big breakfast eater either (planned on using the snack credits for breakfast all week!) and didn't think of splitting the meal until you said it! Can we do that there? Great idea, thanks! :teeth:

I've heard of others sharing breakfast, but as with everything, they can change that rule if they want to!

Hoping for current updates from those with pre-RD ADR's... Able to ride 7DMT or meet A&E before the masses? Please, no lectures on anyone's idea of 'fairness'. Thank you!

I think in order to do that, they'd have to make it a buffet or AYCE. Those are currently the only meal types that do not allow sharing, iirc.

I don't think the breakfast guests should be sent back to the gates. The big question is are they entitled to expect that because they booked an early breakfast, they will be allowed on the ride before anyone gets there from the gates, every time? Most of the time it does work that way, but were they unconscionably deprived of something they were entitled to expect the few times that it didn't?

In a perfect world, it would work like this:
When you show up at the gates before a 9:00 RD, a CM asks you what experience you are there to do first, an attraction or a meal. If you say "attraction", you tell them which one, and they hand you a slip of paper with the current time on it, so each person gets a number in the order that they arrived. "Space Mountain: 7:55"; or "Mine Train: 8:05". After RD, people head to their selected ride and board in the numeric order of their arrival. Running down Main Street does not gain you any advantage. For people who say that they are there for a meal, they head to their restaurant and dine. When they finish their meal, if they are ready to embark on their next experience, they can ask for a time card for the attraction they wish to head to. So let's say they dine at BoG at 8:00 and finish their meal at 8:35. Then they want to head over to the Mine Train. They would be handed a time card that says "Mine Train: 8:35", and when they arrive at the attraction, they would be slotted in to the Stand-By line in the proper order. They would be behind all the people who have time cards earlier than 8:35, but ahead of all the people who have time cards later than 8:35 because they were not committing to that experience until they finished their meal. Up until that point, they were not "in line" for the Mine Train. They were diners at BoG. Only upon completion of their meal did they convert over to Mine Train people. When done like this, they neither gain an advantage nor are they punished. They do not get ahead of anyone who got to the gates at 8:05, nor do they fall behind people who got to the gates at 8:50.

Now, of course, Disney isn't about to implement such a system. But when people get ready to blow off steam about what CMs "did to them", they should think about this example and how this system works. If the CM is placing them behind people who arrived after they finished their meal and when they were ready, willing and able to join the line for the Mine Train, then that would not be fair. But if the CM is not allowing them to jump ahead of people who were in the virtual Mine Train line at 8:05, they have no basis to complain. The time that you end your meal sets the time that you become an attraction person. Not the time that you walked through the gates to head to your restaurant. You cannot simultaneously be enjoying one adventure while waiting for a second adventure, unless you have a FP.
