i read somewhere that deodorant is the same as body glide and much cheaper and easier to find anyone ever try it?????

I've bought the little, travel sized white stick deodorant and used it on my feet. The theory is that it keeps your feet dry and they don't blister. It's always worked for me. However, I'd never heard of Body Glide or Blister Blocker stick until recently. I've bought both for our upcoming trip and we'll see which works best! I will say that the deodorant is much cheaper!

I used to have problems with blisters, then I found out about Body Glide here at the DIS, I used it for 3 trips and didn't get one blister! I forgot it on my last trip and was really worried, then I remembered about the deodorant and tried that and I didn't get one blister that trip either. I did apply the deodorant a little thicker than I did the body glide, but wound up with the same effect, so I've been using deordorant ever since for any lot of walking days I have and am so far still blister free.

Honestly, I think the Body Glide works and so does deodorant, but I think the MAIN thing to do to avoid blisters is wear the most broken in comfortable shoes you've got! They may not be cute, but believe me, after a day in the parks you won't give a hoot what they look like as long as you can still walk in them!

A little OT, but I've also put Memory Foam insoles in my shoes last trip and they were GREAT, I went all day (13 miles of walking) and my feet didn't hurt at all. Love those things!

It needs to be antiperspirant and not just deodorant. Some deodorants for men are not antiperspirants, so be sure to check. I use Lady Speed Stick Invisible Dry (a white stick type), and it works perfectly.

I've used a solid white antiperspirant on my feet and no blisters! I would apply it in the morning and I had no problems. I also alternated between two pairs of worn in sneakers.

Pardon my daftness but how and WHERE do you apply the deo on your feet? Is it only with socks and shoes it works( please don't laugh too hard :rotfl: but I just don't know) last trip I rotated between mephisto sandles (recomended by the pediatrist) and old broken in running shoes. But becuse we go,go, go all day I thought that maybe that was how I got those horrid blisters. Anyway sorry to need thedirect guidance but I would LOVE to avoid sore feet if possible!! :yay: Thanks for any help!!

Where do you find body glide?? I have never heard of the stuff until I started reading DIS. So do you just "glide" this all over your feet?? Seems weird to me, but I will do anything to prevent blisters for me and my family.

You can find all the info about it HERE.

Just spread the antiperspirant/deoderant all over the bottom and sides of your feet and in between your toes. I wore socks every day but it would work with sandals too. You may need to apply it more often and definitely get an invisible solid so your feet won't be white!

IF you chaff, and put the deodorant on the chaff spot, it won't hurt as bad when walking.

I wore sneakers and my DH wore his sandals. The anti-perspirant trick worked for both of us. I also used it on the inside of my thighs. Worked like a dream. Kept the shorts from riding up and no chaffing.

I have a hard time finding deodrants that work well and work well all day. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the new Secret Clinical Strength formula? If yes, is it worth the cost?? Thanks!!!

I've found that Body Glide and a good anti-persperant are equally effective. I had read in a fitness magazine a long while back that they are one in the same...(read the ingredients labels and compare)-and that anti-persperant stick is SOOOO much cheaper. :cool1:
