Body For Lifers

I posted this on my journal, but I will also post it here - I tried the new Trail Mix Balance Bars (the chocolate flavor) and it was REALLY good! All the nutrients of the regular Balance Bars but with the bonus of 3g of fiber. I try to eat only 1 bar per day and have been successful so far, but those are so good I wanted another one! Check them out!

What are some of your favorite carbs? I :lovestruc sweet potatoes and I also like brown rice.

Well we just finished up our second week. This week was a little more difficult for me. I was having a lot more cravings. But I made it through and lost 2 pounds this week! Not a big loss but I'll take it. :cool1:

Favorite carbs are any carbs that I can eat. Sweet potatoes are definitely a favorite of mine and I've learned to love brown rice and wheat pastas. Tortillas are right up there with them.

tae1218-Congratulations on 2 pounds that's awesome!!

tae1218, I was also having a more difficult time the second part of this week. I managed to stay on track though. I started eating 10-12 almonds and that seems to have helped a little. I don't think I was getting enough fat. I am still trying to figure out what to eat on my free day tomorrow! There really isn't one thing I've been craving, so I'll probably end up eating pretty healthy. I've lost 5lb since I started and it feels great! I will be happy with a 1lb per week loss.

Keep it up everyone! :cool1:

I lost 2.5 last week!

What are the favorite workouts of eveyone?

DH and I are trying to stick with cross training and running with raquetball throwin in for him. :)

Congratulations on your loss gradtchr! :cool1:

DH and I are doing the elliptical machine for our cardio. I like it and it is a pretty good workout for me. We also do the exercise bike when we feel like changing it up a bit.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I walk every work day at lunch and I alternate between the treadmill and the elliptical. I get bored really easy on cardio. I love playing tennis and DS9 has been bugging me to play so I will have to get back into that!

Okay everyone...update? How's it going? I think I'm going to do this and wanted to see how it's working for you all.

jennz, I think BFL is something that you can stick to for the long haul. I have not seen awesome results, but then again I haven't been following the program to a T (i.e. I've been taking free weekends instead of free days  ). But I really like the small meals 5-6x a day idea. I know I am in way better shape and am stronger than I have ever been. Once I get back from my cruise, I am going to start a new 12 week cycle (but most likely follow the BFL for Women guidelines). I am already at a healthy weight (although I would love to lose about 10lbs) so the scale hasn't moved too much, but I really can tell the difference in my strength and endurance.

Give it a try! :cheer2:

im so excited to see this thread. i just started body for life today. already have my first workout under my belt. im so excited because i was looking for a program that would be easy to follow and easy to eat from. i always tried to do the really restricting diets and excercise before and would last about a week. i really like the meal plan. im going to try and follow this to the exact program and see how it goes. cardio (bicycle spinning) tomorrow. :moped:

The cardio workout is TOUGH! That 1 minute of all-out is really exhausting... I just do my own thing for weights, since I have been getting positive results, but I do the BFL cardio. Yesterday was elliptical, tomorrow is the dreaded treadmill... :crazy2:

I still love it. I haven't worked out the past two weeks (one due to laziness, the next due to the flu and I am still dealing with that) but I miss the workouts and can't wait to get back into it. Eating wise I love eating small meals all day long because it keeps my energy up and I dn't have to conqueor the I'm starving monster.

Since going back hardcore on this in January I have lost weight every week. Some weeks it isn't much just .2 but a loss is a loss is a loss.

It's good to read about how it's working for you all. I like the meal plan but I'm nervous about the exercise - I don't know if I can do it that hard/intense without hurting myself! And no laughing because I'm serious! :teeth: Graceful and coordinated are two things I've never claimed to be. ;)

hi jennz, tomorrow will be my 3rd day. im pretty out of shape (wimpy) i did upper body monday, cardio today, and lower body tomorrow. im just a tiny bit sore. ill let you know how it goes. good luck everyone. i love this thread. :cheer2:

When I first started I didn't do the full regime of exercise but built up to it. It can take time but you can do it!!

Well I did the 20 minutes of aerobics yesterday and actually jogged (gasp! although it was very slow at 4 mph and I'm hoping to laugh at myself doing that one day) for 2 minutes...I watched a tape of Biggest Loser which inspired me - I figured if they can do it so can I! Today is the weights so I'll get on it...it's going to be hard to not walk every day though. I enjoy walking on the treadmill while I watch a dvd, for around 45 minutes...do you think that will hurt me on the program if I still do that? (I never thought I'd ask if I could do too much exercise! :lmao: )

jennz, I think walking is fine! I walk every day at work for 30 minutes on my lunch break, in addition to doing the intense aerobic sessions 3x a week. I also started a cardio kickboxing class on Saturdays... I agree with the others, you can build up to the workouts, or just start with very low weights until you get the hang of it.

I don't follow the weights routine, but when I get back from my cruise, I might re-think that decision. I know I can be more disciplined and can get even better results if I am more strict with my eating and push myself harder on the workouts.

You can do it! :cheer2:

day 3- a little sore today, but not much. had to do lower body today so im sure ill be feeling it tomorrow.

lovinaz,i love kickboxing too. do you substitue that for one of the cardio routines that bfl recommends? or add it to the lineup. have you tried the turbo jam dvds. they are from beach body. love them.

Thanks! I'm going to keep that up then. I did the weights yetserday and thought I'd be sore today since I actually couldn't lift some after a a while but I'm not too bad...aerobics time!

te2077, I actually do the kickboxing class in addition to the walking and 3 BFL cardio workouts. I also try to do at least 1 Pilates DVD per week as well. Mostly because I am obsessive about the Exercise Challenges... I have not tried the Turbo Jam DVDs. I will have to check those out. I wonder if Blockbuster Online rents them (that's where I get a lot of my workout DVDs to test them out).

jennz, I am glad you aren't too sore from your weights routine! Don't be surprised if you are a little sore tomorrow. Sometimes the 2nd day is the worst!

How are you guys doing on your eating?
