Does anyone have any experience with Bob's Discount Furniture? Customer service? Products? Delivery?

We have ordered several rooms of furniture from Bob's. We are very pleased with the quality, price and timeliness of delivery.

My son's bed is from there and it's been great. Our dining room, not so much. After about a year it's falling apart. It wasn't expensive and was a spur of the moment purchase to get something temporary in place..luckily.

Thank you both. I have a friend who ordered and she's happy. Said the quality is good (not superb) but that it serves it's purpose. Just don't expect it to last 10-15 years. Just wanted to get some other opinions before I place my order.

Friend had the same problem with her dining room set- table became wobbly and chairs didn't last long. I've looked at bedroom sets there and at a more expensive store- while it looked the same from the front, when you looked at how they were built, they weren't as solid. If it's something that isn't getting a lot of use, the value may be there, but if it's going to be used on a daily basis and you want it more then a couple of years, I would look elsewhere.

I agree with a PP who mentioned not to expect this furniture to last 10-15 years. I find the quality if Bobs furniture to be just ok. We do have a console table that looks in excellent shape about 3-4 years layer and a set of microfiber chairs that my husband has in the "man-cave.". The chairs look great but the backs make a weird sound when you sit down quickly on them. However I will always love and appreciate these chairs because they survived an episode of my then 3 year old DS and a Sharpie marker, within the first few days of them being delivered. (just a little soap and a damp cloth, you would never know there was baby graffiti ALL over ALL of them!)

Oh forgot to add...at the time of the delivery of the chairs, one of the four of them had a leg that would not tighten. It would just spin. We told them to take it back right then which I was later told by a friend was the best thing to do. So if something doesn't seem right don't accept delivery. They got a new chair for us about a week or two later.

Also my mom and dad bought a couch from them and ordered a "custom" color and length. It took months for them to receive it. That was the agreement tho because they were in no hurry. But just FYI ordering a special color could add significant time to deliver.

Good luck... Ps what kind of furniture are you ordering?

Yup, the quality is commensurate with the price: Low. And I'm not saying that to dissuade you. When we were planning on getting a larger HDTV, we needed a new entertainment unit. We could have spent big bucks on good furniture, but what for? It's just furniture. We're not furnishing a palace. For all we know, things could change a few years from now and we'd have to replace it again with something else. Will Bob's entertainment unit last forever? Gosh no. But we didn't spend that much on it.

I chose my DR from Bob's because it was very similar to the set at Raymour that I loved but about HALF the price. It's really only used on holidays/special occasions. I think I'd be wary of getting something for everyday use (but others seem pleased) but my 3 yr old dining room has held up fine so far. Delivery was fast, no issues.

As others have stated, the quality is okay. We bought our spare bedroom set there and it is fine. We just needed something kind of inexpensive for the spare room as it is not used much.

I think the word "use" is critical, with regard to Bob's. If you're buying something that you're going to use, don't buy from Bob's. Now, in a way, the entertainment unit is "used" every day, but not really. We set the television down on it once, we put the DVR in once, wired it all up once, etc., and now it isn't touched, at all, and it's okay.

A dresser in an active bedroom? A sofa or coffee table in the family room? That's when I'd spend the extra money for better furniture.

If you want low quality got to Bob's if you want quality and price got to Jordan's. What I have found is that Bob's offers mostly offshore products (IE: cheap) whereas Jordan's offer both American made and offshore at better prices. Over the past few years I've purchased new living room, den and bedroom furniture from Jordan's and all get "used" everyday and they have held up excellent.

Friends of ours had a terrible experience with a living room set they bought at Bobs. During delivery, they noticed a large marker line on the side of the sofa. They told the delivery men that they didn't want it since it was damaged, but the men refused to put it back on the truck. They spent 3 hours on the phone with Bobs while the delivery men sat in their living room. After 3 hours, Bobs agreed to take the sofa back.

They vowed to never again buy anything at Bobs and they made sure to tell everyone they know about the horrible customer service.

Looking to order a daybed which will be used every day. Guess I'll have to make a trip out to the store to look into it myself. Saw the same exact thing on JCPenney website, but of course it was more expensive from JCP.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm still going to look around. The daybed is the perfect look and color. But I don't want to have to buy a new one in a year or two. :confused3

While you're there, take your fingernail and casually draw it across the wood, with an amount of force that most furniture you're used to having would take without showing any damage. Generally, Bob's furniture will show substantial damage from fingernail scratches that wouldn't harm most other furniture.

When I was furniture shopping I checked Bobs but the things like dressers to have flimsy cheap drawers that I knew would break in no time so I ended up not buying from there. Their stuff is not as bad as the crap Ikea sells though-that is way bottom of the barrel.

I had a problem with teh chair I purchaced and they sent a repairman right over to fix it. I am having a problem with my sofa...........in fairness to teh sofa it is really used and I did nto pay much for it. It is 3 1/2 years old but the CS department set up a service call to repair it, no questions asked. I needed to cancel due to a death in my family but will call again next wek.

We bought my old mattress set and our dining room furniture from Bob's and what a bunch of junk!! We got what we paid for which was low quality low priced junk!

The Dining Set chairs came apart in less then a year and had to be put back together luckily we have a family member who works with furniture and they were able to rebuild it all.

The mattress set had to be replaced via warranty TWICE due to Defects from manufacturing. We nicknamed the bed the Taco Bed because of how it would sag and you felt like the taco meat in the middle of the taco shell.

They then tried to re-charge us for the Sales Tax on our Warranty Replacement which was illegal, they argued with us until we printed out the law pointing out they couldn't charge sales tax on a warranty replacement. They are sneaky underhanded and we would never recommend anyone buy anything from them!

When we moved from CT to Florida we just trashed the junk and bought new things from Ashely Furniture here in Florida. I also go a Sleep Number bed and Happily enjoying my Number 55. :)

While Ikea may be inexpensive, it appears to be more resistant to damage than Bob's.

Just wanted to stop by and say I did heed your warnings. I decided against ordering the bed I originally wanted. Saw the same one on JCPenney and read the reviews for it. People weren't too happy and said it wasn't sturdy. So if JCP had a better version that Bob's and it wasn't sturdy, I can't imagine how bad the Bob's bed would have been. I went ahead and ordered a bed from Sleepys. Of course it's sight unseen, as they don't keep it in stock in the store, but I'm hoping it's better than Bob's would have been. It's all wood too.

Thanks again for all your input.
