Day 2

Usually I'm a pretty comando planner. Really I am. But I just could never make daily plans for this trip. In fact I only made 4 PS for the entire trip. It could be the fact that we really wore our APs to death and I have something like 26 days on mine, the kiddos have 23. Never say I don't get my moneys worth. ;)

The lack of a daily plan was both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because we had more time to relax and we would spend a couple of hours in the parks and leave when we felt like it. We also slowed down enough to talk with people. This had been a very exhausting school year and a busy summer and we were all ready for a vacation, just not a comando one. The curse was that without a plan from me the kids seemed to argue about where and what we were going to do. Another thing I came to regret is that we didn't get to do as many attractions or rides that we normally hit.

With this lack of a plan the morning started out in indecission. Since we finally decided on Epcot for the morning we were able to take our time and leisurely make our way to the park. Future World was our goal this morning and we were suprised to find that Spaceship Earth wasn't working. We will have to leave that for a little later. We visited Figment in Journey and had that song stuck in our heads the rest of the trip. The only crowds we saw today were in the interactive area after the ride. Figment lovers will be happy to know that he has invaded the music area. Gone are my beloved trashcans and kites. They were so much cooler.

I had bought the music pins at the Disney Store when they went on clearance. One of our beloved moderators actually left me some after she had hit the store. When I bought these pins, after a DIS meet, the CMs were still talking about the lady who laid out the benjamins for a truckload of merchandise. I just smiled and said I bet I know who it was. I won't out her here. But she does love a cold chocolate mouse on a stick. Ok more than one. Hmmm I see a pattern of gluttony. Ok back to the story.... we had a lot of pins and the kids started some trades today. Pickings were slim and if they continued this way we would still own the music pins at the end of our trip.

We hadn't done Honey I shrunk the audience in a couple of years so we decided to give it a go. Besides I wanted to see the new Kodak preview that replaced True Colors. It was very cute and I will never trust a frog again. Part of the fun in knowing what is coming up in an attraction is that you get to listen to newbies enjoy the suprises. This is one of those attractions. This is a cute 3d show but unlike Muppets or Tough to be a bug I think we will skip it again next trip. I know we did a few more things at Epcot today but all I can remember is walking over to Mission Space and checking out the gift shop. I'm not sure if I can handle this ride but I really don't want to miss it. The testing is still spotty today and the CMs are very tight lipped about if it will be open today at all.

Keping with our leisurely day we decide to hop over to MGM, taking a nice relaxing boat ride. Ok so it wasn't so relaxing when my daughter decided she wanted to sit right over the engine and the throbbing buzzed in my ears and on my behind. It was a full boat so we were stuck. Too bad all that jiggling doesn't get rid of cellulite.

DD is the thrill seeker of our trip. DS is not. Our family goal this trip is to get him on RocknRollercoaster because I know that once he tries it he will love it. However Brice inheritted the family worry gene and last trip as soon as he saw the take off he refused to ride. DD is used to this by now and having to feed her need for speed she will ride anything alone. SO RnR was our first stop to get FP. DS gets a reprieve as they are closed for technical difficulties and aren't even giving out FP.

The bright spot was that we were finally able to get the green army men to sign their autograph books. Last year the kids had made their own autograph books, using stickers and clip art of the characters to decorate their pages. These garnered a lot of personal attention last summer and the characters really enjoyed seeing their pictures. The kids had a few to fill out still and the Green Army men were on the list. In the past we have seen them working, moving orange cones and the like, but have never had a chance to meet them up close. The kids waited in line and the army man was doing a quick sign and picture but when he saw his picture in the autograph books he struck a pose, brandishing his gun above his head for one and down on the ground like he was in a fox hole for the other. It only took me half the trip to figure out that was the pose that was in each kids book. I said I was taking it slow this trip. I guess that means mentally as well.

Now we have some time to kill and no one can agree on what they want to do. The only solid plan is that we are going to stay for Fantasmic tonight. We do a little window shopping and end up at the Great Movie Ride. This is a cute ride but my kids seem to love it. We always get the gangster scene and this time was no exception. I keep trying but never seem to hit the wild west, even when I ask. With Katie being such a thrillster the alien scene should scare her right? Wrong. As soon as we get close she hunkers down into the car, along with her brother, hand won't look up until its over. This was a source of amusement to the family riding with us.

As we exit the famous afternoon thunderstorms hit and my belly was growling as loud as the thunder so we decided to grab a bit to eat. I have not had any counter service at MGM that was very good so our choices were down to SciFi and 50's Prime time, but I was worried that the rain would make them crowded. Thinking about that unapetising counter service we decided to chance it and headed off to Primetime Cafe. Whipping out our orange trash bags, umm ponchos, and sloshing through the puddles we waddled in. Mom checking us in was a little grumpy tonight but it was a short wait. This was one of the best meals of the trip. Our cousin was lots of fun and my clean plate was even showed off to our neighbors. We even indulged in the glowing ice cube drinks and they are one of our favorite souvineers.

Again I know we did a couple of more things before Fantasmic but all I remember is buying candy at the candy caldron and Brice urging us on so we can get a good seat. We all love this show but Brice especially. He wanted to get as close to the center as possible so we took our candy, glowing cubes, and waited. I was hoping for a hot pretzel to pass the time but there weren't any coming around. One of the drawbacks of traveling as the solo adult is that I can't go and get something, or send someone off to get it, and have the others save the seats. Oh well these sour jellybellies I got will have to take care of my snacking needs. Fantasmic was spectacular as always. Every time I see this show I am amazed at how good it is. It has to be to get me to the aftershow of grab on to your kids for dear life and pray you don't get seperated. What a fun game! The kids want me to climb up the bleachers like others are doing but after witnessing a toddler do that last trip, slip and crack his head open I will wait. Besides I can be quite clumsy and it would be me falling and not the kids.

This being a Saturday night the crowds after Fantasmic were huge so to pass the time getting out of the park I decided to listen to the converstaion around me. The kids were tired so they weren't talking for once so it was the perfect way to pass the time. I heard children talking about what they did that day, the excitement still in their voices. Families trying to keep their broods together. Parents trying to resist "just one more toy". But then it happened. I heard a lady talking and it seemed she was talking to herself, but wait she was actually calling someone to tell them about her day. The conversation starts by saying where she is and how much fun she had today, moving on to the rides she rode. " There's this one ride called Rock n Rollercoaster and we saw Aerosmith and the music was playing but we got on the ride and it was a ROLLERCOASTER! We had no idea it was a rollercoaster. I was so suprised and I don't know if I would have rode it if I knew. I mean there was no warning or anything." I swear my jaw dropped and I almost couldn't keep from snorting with laughter! I looked at my daughter to tell her what I had heard and she was giggling too. I tried to stay close to her so I could hear the rest of the conversation but the crowds pushed us in different directions. Although I tried throughout the trip I never did hear a better recounting of the day.

Tomorrow - Chef Mickey's and the family that has never been on vacation before.

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!

Enjoying your report. Thanks for posting.

I'm enjoying your trip reports!

What was your wait time like for Fantasmic? We're going in October, and have opted not to do the package because we don't want to eat at those restaurants offered. Just wondering what your wait experience was like?

Thanks!

BurleyGirl we waited an hour this time for Fantasmic and we were just to the left of the Mickey section, which is in the middle. We have also showed up closer to show time and had ok seats as well. I am not sure that this little advantage to the view you get mid theater is really worth the wait. We have been on the far end of the stadium and the view was still as good, with less wait. 30 minutes before the show is the longest I would wait to get a seat.

Ratpack some people are just clueless! LOL

I am soooo bad, I love listening to other peoples conversations.... One of these days it is going to catch up with me:p

You mean Rock N Rollercoaster is a ROLLERCOASTER ride? Who would have thought???? ;)

great trip so far. enjoying your reports and looking forward to your next installment.

Sounds like a great day, thanks for sharing. :)

Bobcat, I can relate to you on the solo adult disadvantages. Even when my DGD would have to go to the bathroom during dinner...why do they always have to go to the bathroom during dinner?...I was afraid the waiter would think we'd left without paying or the busboy would clear our plates!LOL It's definately harder. Hang in there girl!

Looking forward to the next report Lisa!!! Sounds like you guys had a great time. I sure do wish my trip wasn't so far away.

Your trip sounds like so much fun! Your right mhopset I can't wait till our trip either. I need to be working on our shirts!:p I love the autograph idea Bobcat!!!
