Bob or Jillian?

Who would you want as a trainer?

  • Bob

  • Jillian

  • Huh? What are you talking about?

I don't think I'd like either of them, actually but if I had to pick I'd choose Bob. I always responded best to the Coaches that praised us more than the ones that were mean. If a Coach told me I had a great practice, I lived on that praise and worked harder at all the subsequent ones. I think Bob is more likely to do that than Jillian.

The biggest thing was having them take off the seat.

Riding standing up for long periods has no real function. You can get a good or better cardio workout mixing sitting and standing or just sitting for that matter. You need to be able to sit down if you get dizzy. She was putting them at risk for knee and hip injury.

Laying on their forearms -is just bad practice. There is no indoor cycling certification (which makes me think she doesn't have one) that endorses this practice. You need to be able to sit up to breathe well and avoid back strain.

Spinning frantically as hard as you can go without resistance while being screamed at. The flywheel on a spinbike is weighted and can get going really fast. Their feet could fly out of the toe cages and they could whack a shin or worse.

Going as hard as you can and as fast as you can doesn't always mean a more efficient workout. You can burn fat (actually many people think you burn more stored fat) working out at a lower % of your maximum heart rate.

The things she did with the bike might have made for good TV -but they weren't safe and they don't encourage habits that you would want to continue.

My gut instinct would be to say that I'd rather have Jillian (because I like her more) but at the end of the day I'd probably respond better to Bob. Jillian uses a lot of threats and intimidation to push people farther and... quite frankly, I've been yelled at by much worse than her and I've gotten to be indifferent to it. She could yell at me all day and it would have zero effect. Actually, I'd probably laugh, which would make things much worse.

I think I'd respond better to Bob because he'd be able to get my gaming, competitive spirit fired up. That would work for me way more than having a 100 lb woman threaten to break my legs.

If you needed a Personal Trainer, who would you choose? I think I would need Jillian's approach. Don't get me wrong, I love Bob but Jillian is tougher and would motivate me more.

Yep I'm so bored I started a Biggest Loser Poll. ;)

I agree....I need tough! She inspires me just by watching!

I just read this post and I am the exact same way! I never responded to mean coaches well. I had an awful volleyball coach who is a lot like Jillian and I hated him! On the other hand, my basketball coach was more like Bob and I was way more willing to push myself for him. Not saying that is a good response - but that is how I am:) You yell at me - and I push back.

I would go with Bob. I think that they are both tough, but Bob seems a bit more encouraging to work with. Jillian just seems to mean. :rotfl:

MTE! Jillian is so frightening. I need a little bit more understanding and support than she is willing to provide.

I respectfully disagree and say Jillian all the way ! :thumbsup2

I will have Jillian abs by this time next year! Atleast that's my goal.

I keep telling my DH that I have those abs but that he just can't see them under the fat I still have around my middle. :lmao:

I love Jillian and would love to get her to train me for a week. I'm hard on myself, but I think having her push me would be even harder.

BTW Jules, love your signature. DD is a graduate of WVU, class of 2008. She is now a proud employee of the Walt Disney Company at WDW.

See that...I'm the exact opposite...

Yes please...

Crap. I am VERY female and I THINK SHE'S HOT!
Not fair.
:headache:

Jillian in a heartbeat! I could not believe when the last team the other night got to chose their trainer and they chose Bob. Even my kids were like What are they thinking??? Jillian has the winning competitors. She also focuses on each individual and not the game crap. Yeah, she yells, but that is okay. I would know that beneath it all she really did care because you can always tell by the end that she loves each of her team members.

I'm really looking forward to watching Jillian vs that Perky Green Team girl.

Jillian: "Do you hurt? Good! It's going to get worse! It'll be HELL!!! HELL I tell You!!!!"

Perky Girl: "Oh no, I'm great. I'm sure that it'll getter better" :)

Jillian: "NO CRY!!! CRY!!!!! I won't quit until you CRY!!!"

Perky Girl" "Oh Jillian, I know you're only like this for my own good. I can't wait for tomorrow."

Jillian all the way. She wouldn't let me quit.
