Hello! I will be arriving at DW in two weeks to start work in the kitchen at Boatwrights. I was wondering what the consensus was on the quality of the place. How would you folks rate it? What do you usually order there? Any info you have on it would be helpful for me.
Thanks.

I ate dinner and breakfast there when I stayed at the POR last year.
I really liked it, I thought that they could have had more selections , but the food was very good and I really like the setting of the restaurant itself.
For dinner I had the bourbon glazed chicken over the dirty rice, very good and juicy, I also had a side of grilled asparagus, that was delicious!
For breakfast I had the omelet, you had a choice of several items that could go into it, I think I just had bacon and american cheese.
It was a 3 egg omelet, so by the time I was done eating that and my buisciut I had no room for the potatoes, so I can not comment on them.
Good luck to you in your new position.

I will be having dinner there in about 3 weeks! Good luck!!

DH and I had a wonderful breakfast there a couple of years ago. Yummy french toast. Looking forward to trying it for dinner.

The oriental lady Mai? is a wonderful server, she looked after us really well in July
We will be back in July 2005 from the UK please pass on our thanks to her.

i just got back today from por and ate in boatrights for breakfast and dinner and it was very good.

I make a point to eat at Boatwrights for breakfast every trip. I absolutely LOVE the sweet potato pancakes with pecan butter - so good you don't even need maple syrup. I've also had the banana french and that is great as well.

Good luck on your new job! We ate there 4 years ago, off hand I don't remember what I ate. I do remember really liking it. The food was great and service was excellent! :sunny:

We had dinner there a week ago. It was quite good. DH had prime rib, and said it was MUCH better than he had anticipated it being. I had the salmon and it was absolutely delicious. And I love their corn bread!

My family adores Boatwright's for breakfast. We think dinner is very good, too. I think a couple of the desserts taste like they came from the food court bakery. (specifically, there was a chocolate cake that we felt that way about)

congrats on your new job! we ate there about 5 nights ago for dinner. the service was great and the food was very good. my fiance had the steak and i had the jambalaya. both were very tasty (i snuck in a few bites of hers). my only complaint was the portion of jambalaya was very small for $16. plus it only had chicken and sausage...would have liked some shrimp in it too--especially for that price.

good luck, POR seems like a great place to work!

We are another family that eats dinner at Boatwrights no matter where we stay. We always find one night to fit it in. We have always had good meals here. I am picky about bread and appetizers and they are both wonderful at Boatwrights. The selections and specials are always great.
The staff is always nice , and very helpful.

It is probably one of our favorites at WDW

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I'm really looking forward to this job, I hope it works out!

We ate at Boatwrights a couple of times last December for B'fast and really liked it. I had the sweet potato pancakes both times and they were great.

We will be staying at POFQ in December so we will have to walk over and try dinner there.

We have not eaten there. But I just want to say, seeing an employee that cares enough to post, makes me want to go. I will try it out in nov. The place must be good to have that kind of staff!! good-luck.

To be honest, I gave it only one chance (for breakfast) -- the food was fine, the service kind of shaky, but pleasant -- but the WAIT for a table for completely not worth it. I'm just as happy eating my counter service breakfast by the waterwheel.

Boatwrights is another hidden jewel among the many fine restaurants at WDW. I try to eat there whenever possible. I also love the decor.

I've eaten at boatwrights for 10 years now and just ate there last week. I have to honestly say that it was probably my last dinner there. I will continue to go for breakfast during my trips, but was sad after my visit last week. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, the CMs are good, but I looked forward to the bucket of hot breads. Loved the sourdough and hubby loved the multigrain. But it's gone now. I struggled after they stopped including the big AYCE salad that was tossed at your table with their wonderful smoke-house ranch house dressing. sometimes I could barely eat my entree after the salad and bread, and often would just get soup, while the rest of the family ordered entrees. But no more sourdough bread was the last straw for me. The Primerib and dirty rice was good, as was my husband's roastbeef, but am not wowed by dinner any more. I know things change and I guess my choices will too. I didn't make it for breakfast during my October trip and still hope the french toast (baget style) is still there. I just don't see a need to make a special trip here anymore.
