We are going to be staying at POR and Boatwright's is our ADR for arrival day. I haven't heard much of this restaurant. I am thinking towards the prime rib. Does anyone have any opinions?

We stayed at POFQ, took a walk over to POR to check out Boatwrights... I went for the catfish. ( awful ) others had chicken and food... Not real good for what we paid and we were basically alone in there... Made us wonder but after eating we knew why... Scratch that one off our list ..! Good luck ..!

I am now considering this choice. I have wondered maybe there might be a reason I haven't heard much on this place.

We've loved every entrée we've had there in the last couple years, including the prime rib. I think the pork chop deserves a special mention. It was remarkably moist, tender and flavorful without being too salty.

I thought it was good. I had the crawfish étouffée. It was a huge portion and they were very generous with the amount of crawfish in it. Yum!

Thanks! I really want to try eating here. I am always skeptical about trying new things. I figure how can you go wrong with prime rib? My husband eats steak at almost every restaurant we go to. He refuses to eat pork.I figure since we will be staying there why not?

I had the onion soup, filet (no longer on menu), and bread pudding (different than the bread pudding available now) last year and I thought everything, except the crawfish beignet they served with the filet, was really good.

It's not a place I sould go out of my way to eat at but, if I was staying at POR or POFQ, I would definitely go again.

Both times we stayed at POR we did this for our arrival night dinner. We arrived mid afternoon, then took the boat to DTD and went to Disney Quest for a few hours. Then took boat back to POR for dinner.

Both meals were very good. Service was quick, so we had time to use the pools before bed!

DITTO! :thumbsup2

I am a Hard Core Foodie and I found the prime rib surprisingly good. Note that few of the desserts are made 'in house' most are pre-made-frozen-thawed.

I'v never eaten there but every night during our 8 day trip, it was virtually empty. I'd venture to guess you don't even need an ADR to eat there. That being said, most mod TS restaurants aren't exactly popular. Boatwright's isn't at the top of my list to try, but I will always try anything at least once!

The food was awesome! I had the tenderlion medalions and dh had prime rib. And pecan pie for dessert of course.

The tenderloin was very small. 2 tiny pieces. Good but DS27 was still hungry after. DH had the prime rib. Better portion and good. Desserts were OK. Not great. Now I see they offer a steak instead of the tenderloin medallions. We are staying at POR in November. I might try it again on our first night instead of worrying about a ressie. JIC we are late getting in. We love everything about POR except Boatwrights! It gets an OK from us!

We don't stay at POR but we do like to go see Bob Jackson once during each trip, so dinner at Boatwright's is convenient. I was sorry they removed the beef tenderloin from the menu this trip - I had the pasta instead and it was just OK, although DH had the pork chop and it was wonderful - but I tried the new spinach & pear salad app and it was really, really good.

The bread is cornbread and it's sooooo tempting to just fill up on it; I really have to pace myself on that part of the meal!

I stayed at POR last summer and loved the dinner I had at Boatwrights. I was on the Premium Plan, so I ate at most of the best WDW restaurants. I enjoyed the prime rib at Boatwright's more than the porterhouse at Yachtsman. The deep-fried crawfish bites were a very good (and considerably generous) appetizer. In fact, Boatwright's was the only TS restaurant where I had to order my dessert to go. That's how generous the portions were. Can't wait to go back on my arrival night (August 31).

We've eaten there a few times when we were staying at PORS or POFQ and just felt too tired to go to our scheduled ADRs. We've always enjoyed it. We are southerners, so used to that type of food though. I'm not a fan of their pecan pie. I think they use the dark karo syrup, instead of the light I am used to. That's the only thing I've ever found that I didn't like.

off topic: They used to serve breakfast and had the best sweet potato pancakes and fresh strawberries with fresh whipped cream.

Thanks everyone! This sounds great. I am now more excited to try this restaurant and the prime rib! I am not really picky but I do know when I am hungry I want at least a decent meal. I am now hungry thinking about it!:goodvibes

Thanks for this helpful thread! We're trying Boatwright's on our trip, too, as we're staying at POFQ.

Each time we've stayed at PO, we've dined at Boatwright's, and each time I've ordered the Prime Rib and thoroughly enjoyed every bite! It's hit or miss with how busy they can get, our first time we walked right in, the next time the wait was almost an hour if you didn't have an ADR. Our service has always been great. Soon after you're seated, they bring you the fluffiest, warm cornbread, and it is delicious!
I've had the pecan pie and creme brulee, and I prefer the pie, but both were amazing. I am tempted to go to Boatwright's my next trip, but will be staying at POP and I'm not sure I want to travel that far!
And as a PP mentioned, you must see Yehaa Bob, he is very entertaining! Mmm. Now I want cornbread!
