Just saw that The Boathouse is on the DDP now! Made my reservation :)

ETA: I must have missed it initially, but it's 2 dining credits

Given the price and the article I read saying two person entrees would be 4 dining credits, I would be inclined to think it would be classified as a signature and would be two dining credits.

I saw it on FB through another Disney site that I follow... I called to make sure this was true and they confirmed it when I called.

On the opening screen it shows that the restaurant is not on the DDP; however, when you book your ADR and the screen asks to confirm your ADR, it shows it's on the DDP and lists 2 credits. If it is on the DDP I will become less thrilled about going there than I was. I personally think in the long run it's going to suffer in it's quality and variety of offerings. I booked the restaurant by calling directly this afternoon for our trip in June and will be keeping an eye on the reviews and will be getting an opinion from someone I know who is working at Disney on an intern program. I was very excited about this restaurant and now I am a bit more cautious about it.

I haven't read a ton of reviews for this restaurants but comparing the menus it appears that Narcoossee's is a better "deal" on the dining plan, depending on what you get of course, at least if you are looking for the best bang for your 2 dining credits. The Boathouse may certainly have better food (no idea).

Okay, so a tag-along question to this. On the menu, it appears that most of the entrees are a la carte. In other words, if you want fries, baked potato, or a vegetable, you have to order them separately. So if you're using the dining plan, is it ONLY the entree and then dessert. Am I going to order a steak and get nothing but a steak for two credits? I've never done a signature meal and don't know if this is unusual or how it works.

Good question- we were thinking about maybe making a Ressie but now that you mentioned this, it makes me question whether or not we should book it

I just called the Boathouse directly to ask about side items. They said their menu doesn't change because of the dining plan. If you're on the dining plan you get a non alcoholic drink, a entree and a dessert. If you order a steak that comes with no side items, that is all you get the steak. If you want side items fries, vegetable , etc. You will have to purchase them separately as its not included on the dining plan.

We have a ressie for our September trip and cannot wait!! Saving up my pennies for us to ride in the amphicar as we are huge classic car buffs in this family.

Wow. When I saw it was on the DP, I thought for a second about actually trying it out. But for 2 dining credits, I think I want more than just a steak--even if it's a really good steak. Having a real tough time justifying that one!

Those look so cool! But $125 for...is it 20 minutes? And it only fits 3 so I can't even take my whole family! How would we choose who gets to sit out on that one??? Don't think that one's making it to our list either!

It is typical that the dining plan does not include any separately priced side items. They are just following the letter of the DDP (which most non-Disney restaurants do as well).

Yes amphicars are $125 per 20 minute cruise, with up to 3 passengers. Driver is provided.

Yes, I understand that you don't usually get side items that are separate with the DP. However, don't most DP signature meals include side items???? Do you go to California Grill and get ONLY the meat with no veg or potato or rice or anything? As I said, I've never been so maybe this is the way it is everywhere. But every menu I look at has side items included in the entree. This one doesn't. That's why I was wondering if it was different.

Depends on the restaurant. Separate sides is usually typical of a high end steak house (Boathouse is a steak house. The theme tricks guests into thinking it's a seafood restaurant, but it's run by a steakhouse group out of Chicago). Yachtsman will give you the steak and the sides are priced separately. Therefore no sides on the DDP. Le Cellier will include a designated side with a steak; they also have separately priced sides. If you don't like the side that comes with your entree, you can substitute a side that comes with another entree, but not any of the separately priced sides.

Oh, see, when I look at the Yachtsman menu, it definitely lists potato, fries, rice, etc. with most of the entrees. I assumed they came with it. It doesn't??? I do see there are upgraded sides that are separate. But even the ones they list with the entrees are extra?

Used to be you had to buy all their sides separately. I guess there were complaints. Maybe complain about Boathouse. But it's not operated by Disney, so it could work differently.

Sides come with the entrees at the signature restaurants. So if you go to Yachtsmen get a steak, a side and a dessert. Except apparently Boathouse

Nope, I remember there being complaints on here about no sides available on DDP at Yachtsman. So that's changed.
