Boathouse on DP now

Thanks, Adam.

I actually spoke with a manager at The BOATHOUSE myself earlier in the day yesterday and was told they started taking it the day before (Tuesday, 5/19). When I saw what you guys were writing, I changed it up and called Disney Dining and had them put me on hold and call The BOATHOUSE for me to see if they were given the same answer you were - I did this again this morning - and both times they were given the same info I was.

Again, I didn't take the info from Disney Dining as I'm aware that they don't always know what's going on.

One more time lol :)

I just called again 9:16 am eastern time and spoke to the manager, who informed me that they do NOT take TiW. He said they now take the dining plan as of Tuesday, but they do not take TiW :( Please call the restaurant again and asked them directly lol. I hope they do start taking TiW as I have 2 reservations there for the month of July :)

Regarding the sides... The reason they're not included is because the sides are fit for a table (2-4 people. - I THINK - most steakhouses are like this.) Most steakhouses offer an entree - basically it's just your main dish. If your main dish comes with something, great... but most luxury steakhouses serve a la carte. So, you would order your own entree - let's say between a family of 4, My dad, sister and I would get a steak and my mom a seafood dish. Between the table, we'd decide on the asparagus and the mashed potatoes.

The side dishes would come on a large dish. You'd get like 3-4 asparagus per person. That's how STK in NYC does it.

But none of the Disney restaurants do it that way, do they? Even the signatures? I know this is a private company. But just seems like if you're using 2 credits for a meal, it should be more than just the steak!

Just want to follow up with you guys, I called Disney Dining last night and again this morning, had them call The BOATHOUSE and ask specifically about Tables In Wonderland and they were told that they started taking it on 5/19/15 which was Tuesday of this week. They were told that the contract discussions took a while between Disney and The BOATHOUSE so it's possible that not everyone who answers the phone is aware of it...not sure. We have lunch reservations there next Friday so I suppose I'll find out myself then! I'll post again after our lunch that day to let you know!

Can't wait to hear back from you. We will have the TIW card and that would be an added bonus.

I have been calling the number provided and keep getting a recording. I can't seem to get a hold of a live person to make a reservation for September. What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same problem. I have tried calling at different times of day and have tried making on=line reservations too. I also want September!

Thats the number I keep using and there is a recording. I will keep trying.

I just got through for an October reservation and all they had left was before 5 or after 9. I wanted 9, so it worked out well for us, but I was surprised that was all that was left this early.

Have tried that number numerous times and keep getting a recording. I have tried different times of the day. I also tried hitting "0" to see if that would take me to an operator or live person. But it just sends me back to the recording.

I was doing the exact thing down to hitting the 0 button. I think what is happening is when its busy you get the recording. I would just keep trying. I tried for days and finally got through. Good luck!

We ate there for lunch last week- I had tried to get a reservation but could not find any available but when we walked up there were very few tables with people and we were seated immediately. Last Tuesday we could have used a dining plan (if we had it) but could not use any other discount- we have Annual Passes, TIW, and are DVC. I asked our server and was told that we would be able to order 1 entree, a regular (not any of the specialty) drinks, and a dessert. Sides would be priced separately along with any specialty drinks we wanted.

The rules for the signatures are the same as for other TS meals on the DDP. You get a drink, an entree and a dessert. If your selected entree normally comes with a side, then the side will be included. I believe most Disney-owned signatures on the DDP now have entrees that include sides. However, the Boathouse does not have entrees that include sides, so you would not receive any side if you chose to use 2 dining credits at the Boathouse. We may find that people complain a lot about that and they change their menu, but currently you would not get a side included in your meal unless you chose to pay extra. Personally, I wouldn't spend 2 credits at The Boathouse. If I were interested in eating there, I'd just go out-of-pocket for that meal.

My rule of thumb is if they won't take TIW but will do DDP I don't eat there. WHat they are saying is they can afford to take a BIG discount on some folks and won't bother to give a little discount to the rest of us, who are probably subsidizing that "big" discount. Makes not sense to me, but I figure if they are pandering to DDP it's time to move on anyway LOL!

That's pretty much the conclusion DH & I came to when I read they were going to take the DP. We might stop in for a drink in order to check it out but it's unlikely we'll actually have a meal there now.

But there is no BIG discount for DDP users. Even if they get the $62 Filet Oscar Style and the $10 dessert, people on the DDP are just breaking even for those 2 dining credits. Essentially, they are getting exactly what they paid for. And if they want any other entree, they only get that entree with no side. In that situation, they aren't even breaking even and not getting much food for their 2 credits.
