Comtemporary, Poly, Grand Floridian, Wilderness area are all boat accessible to MK.
I don't know if they are faster then the buses but they are more enjoyable!
In the EPCOT area, you can get to EPCOT, Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club/Yacht Club, Swan/Dolphin and Disney Studios by boat. This waterway is not connected to the waterway used in the MK area.
In the Downtown Disney area, you can catch a boat that goes to the Port Orleans resorts, but no parks. It is also not connected to the other waterways.
In the MK area, the boat is usually a longer trip than riding the monorail TO MK. However, for the trip back, boats are often a quicker trip than monorail to the Poly and GF, because of the lesser number of stops.
I don't think there are buses from GF or Poly to MK. There is a bus to MK from WL and FW. I'd think the buses from those two places would probably be faster than the boat ride, but as the previous poster said the boat ride is definitely more enjoyable from there.
There is just something wonderful about using the different modes of transportation. I wouldn't say that it is much faster than anything else on any given day, since you don't know how many people will be using each mode of transportation.
I believe that it should be looked upon as another alternative to traveling around the property.
"Faster" or "slower" is a very subjective term to everyone.
