Does anyone know what hours the boat launch between the contemporary and Fort Wilderness operates? We're going to the 9:30pm Hoop de doo and staying at the BLT so thought that might be an option for transport.

The 2 Blue flag motor launches serving the CR, WL and FWC on Bay Lake operate from 0645 to 2330 daily.

From 0645 to 1500, they run the following route: CR>FWC>WL>CR.

At 1500, they reverse direction running: CR>WL>FWC>CR.

Allow 15-20 minutes between boats.

Delays can be expected when the Magical Fireworks Voyage boats dock at the CR for loading/unloading and/or the EWP is showing in Bay Lake.

The Blue flag launches must "work around" both.

<sits and pounds head with paw like Pooh>

Think, think, think.

Why does the boat reverse the route at 1500?

The otters from River Country sometimes run a competing boat line - but don't trust them - they're all a bunch of drunks and you'll never be sure where you'll end up........

The most sinister explanation of why they run them in opposite directions is so WL guests get a direct ride to/from their ideal destination without an extra stop.

In the morning, WL guests would most likely be going to one of the monorail resorts to breakfast. So this way they don't have to stop at the campground.

In the afternoon/evening WL guests, would most likely be going over to the campground to go to the Hoop De Doo, wo this way they don't have to stop at the Contemporary first.

(Yes, I stay at the Fort, and I've heard WL guests "comment" about the campground).

However, a more mundane explanation is probably the way the sun rises and sets over Bay Lake, maybe to keep the sun out of the boat captains eyes so bad, or traffic patterns of other water traffic in the area.

I have wondered why do they not explain on the signs listing the hours on the boat dock that at 3:00 PM they reverse the order of stops that the boat will make.

On a closed loop route there's no need to detail which order the stops.

Because writing anything...and "putting it in stone"...so to speak, removes any flexibility for temporarily changing the boats' routes based on guest load demands...hense, fewer guest complaints....haha...maybe....yeah, right!

In any event, it has nothing to do with the sun in the pilots' eyes but poster clkelly has it pretty right, otherwise.

Don't look for the info regarding route reversal to be posted on any signs at the resort docks on Bay Lake.

WDW will build a bridge over the EWP channel off 7 Seas Lagoon and extend the monorail to everywhere before that happens.

WOW, I was being facetious and cynical (sometimes they ARE out to get you), can't believe I was right :-)
