What are your thoughts on this? We currently have BWV reservations for may, in a pool/garden view....Currently, we are waitlisted at BCV ( we have never stayed there) OR Boardwalk view at BWV.

I was thinking of taking us off the waitlist for BWV, and going on for SV. I would think BWV would become available before standard. :confused3 Any opinions?

If you already have pool/garden-BW View will be the same points-yes worth it IMO.

Now if BCV came available-then I might recommend that, pretty much our favorite overall.

We highly enjoyed our one Boardwalk view villa stay last year. It was so nice that we tried to buy some BWV points so that we could be guaranteed that view. Our resale contract fell thru, so we are back to booking at the 7 month window again. FYI, I just had a standard view BWV 1 bedroom waitlist come thru for Memorial Day weekend after being on the waitlist about a week or so. We want to try the standard view to see if we like those villas - the points required just can't be beat!

Completely agree. The Boardwalk view is Awesome and everyone should do it at least once. :thumbsup2

We luckily had our waitlist go through for a boardwalk view studio :dance3: I can't wait to have the view at least once :)

I say you should try it once as I hear is a lovely view [[but I'll need to wait until May to confirm what I've heard ;) ]]. :thumbsup2

Illuminations from the balcony of villa 5003. If you want this indescribable experience, request top floor, as close to the Jellyrolls end of the building as possible.

We had never stayed in a boardwalk view until this past Jan. We had room 4009 above the sales office. There is a new policy on how often and how loud all the boats need to blow their horns that went into effect Dec. 2010. This woke me up very early every day. Not what I want on vacation. We loved having the doors open and enjoyed the view of Illuminations. We could also see some of the MK fireworks above the roof of the YC. The noise was very loud and very annoying. I can not imagine staying there with small children or babies that need a nap. When I emailed Member Satisfaction (yes it was that loud) they called at the villa and told me to complain to the front desk. My husband and I were at Concierge to book adrs for our April '11 trip and brought this up to the CM. She told us that they have rec'd many complaints but the new rules are mandated by the state of FL. I am not sorry after waiting since 1998 to have this view or that we used the extra points to do so. Would I do it again? No. I was just the two of us this trip so maybe if we were a larger group, making more noise and having more "going on" I would not of noticed it as much.

Bummer. But now I want to try it again just to see if its that bad. Its been a few years. We do always bring fans to sleep by at all hotels-just like the constant hum-maybe that will be enough. :cloud9:

 Awesome! Hoping for the same luck :wizard:
what are your dates? We will be there from the 7th-11th of may :goodvibes

Boardwalk view is our absolute favorite place to be. Yes, there is some noise at night, but it is not too loud to sleep for us or ou daughter who was four the first time we stayed there. The view if illuminations is unbelievable!

We were there NYE and I asked the boat captain about the horns too LOL!!! We were on the 4th floor and the horns were barely heard in the villa. I think the bell ringing at the games on the BW is much louder. We don't mind the sounds of the BW, just love being there....only one baby with us this trip and she didn't seem to mind the sounds either.

no, it's not worth doing "just once."......BW view is worth doing every single time!!! :cloud9: (for us, that means 2-3x a year, every year since the BW opened - thankfully, BW view is a catagory now, it used to be just a request)

drinking coffee on your balcony while watching the sun come up, people watching with spaceship earth as their backdrop (and they look at you, yes lucky you, who is the source of their envy), and the spectacular nightly show of illuminations (and parts of wishes)......it's an amazing view that i dream of almost every night.
so, yes, i would say it's worth it :)

btw, we've never had trouble sleeping at the BWVs, even during afternoon naps. we have had noise problems elsewhere, notably the BC/BCV, where the the hallway noise, i.e., yelling and screaming, would wake us up repeatedly (over multiple visits).

Just once? No way I would take this view 100 times out of 100. Boat horns.... Love them! I can hear them now in my head and they give me inner peace from this snow!!!!:cool1:

I'm with the others that say the bell ringing from the basketball toss is much more annoying than any other sound coming from the boardwalk. I've stayed with a boardwalk many times. Even the time I had a villa directly above the sales office the noise didn't bother me. The boat horns are just part of the background music to me!!! It's funny how the same thing can be an annoyance to one person, and magical to another!!

I now try to grab a standard view room in order to save points. No, the view isn't quite as nice, but being able to add another trip each year makes up for the lack of view!!

I think it is worth the upgrade. Only because if you don't get a boardwalk view you can be stuck in the very back... like Hollywood Studios entrance back!! :)

Same here, when someone puts a live web cam on the boardwalk view room-I leave it on the whole time and just listen. Same would be if someone puts on at BLT-that train is great to here-we left our balcony door open just for that.

Just wanted to add, regarding the "noise";

I gave a good friend a BW studio vaca for her 21st birthday/college graduation. She loved the view so much, she slept on the balcony almost every night:) she told me she slept soundly, without any problems.
And she wound up buying into DVC before her trip was over:thumbsup2

Absolutely worth it once! Did it once in a GV and the room and view were unbeleivable. We still talk about this room to this very day. The noise didn't bother me, as it tends to fade away towards midnight and once you close the door to the balcony, it tends to fade away. Speaking of balconies, though, they were very small, and all of us had to string out long wise rather than being able to gather around a table like you can at OKW or VB ... haven't stayed at SSR so can't weigh-in on that one.

All-in-all, though, it's an unparalled view that you'll never be able to accomplish anywhere without doing once. To answer your question in a word, though, it's my first one in this response ... absolutely!!
