Friends of mine have gotten a 2 bedroom board walk view at the BWVs...Lucky them! They have a little one and feel that he won't be able to stay in the parks to see Illuminations or Wishes. So she wants to be able to cuddle with her son on the balcony and see Illuminations one night....

I was wondering if there is a better area on the board walk view rooms for seeing the fireworks? I told her to request top floor, but I wanted to be of more help....anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks!

Fifth floor gets GREAT views and it is much quieter. If I ever stayed at BWV again I would request NS, 5th floor and close to elevator.

The higher she gets and the farther from the elevator she is, the better. But MOST of Illuminations happens at water level and you won't have a view of the whole thing from anywhere at the BW.

But she'll see thw fireworks in the sky. And when we staed at the Dolphin this past December we had an Epcot view and saw alot of Illuminations and certainly the sky fireworks. It was awesome! What a memorable experience, your friend will love it. (even though it is a different resort I'd imagine it will be better as it is closer?) :confused3

I agree you will only see the higher ones.

Thank you all!
She called MS and requested (based on the good advice here)
a top floor room near the Atlantic Dance Hall end.

I think she will be very happy if this room request is met and since she is a smoker (yuck) she said she never requests nonsmoking (tho she doesn't smoke in the room) so that we non-smokers have a better chance of getting a smoke-free room.

I think that gives her a slightly higher chance of having 2 requests met (the top floor and the location far down the wing.) As an added benefit, since I am joining her for a Grand Gathering...they try to put all GG people close together, which means that I may get a wee upgrade from standard to across the hall from her...which would give me a dolphin, swan, canal view.
So...she might get to see Illuminations and Wishes from her balcony and Fantasmic from mine!!!!!!!!!

Again, thanks for your input!

We are going Labor Day week with DH's family and we all have BWV boardwalk view rooms. What is a good spot to request? Walking is not an issue.

All the BW view rooms are nice ones. :) We have stayed on every floor, except the first, and we like the upper floors. I returned last night from a BW view room on the third floor, which was very nice, and I could see Illuminations from there, above Big River Grill. That room has the added benefit of being able to People Watch. ;)

just an fyi:
ALL BW view rooms are non-smoking (so no need to make a request either way).

We had a 5th floor 1 bdr ALL the way down the hall. It was in fact the last room in the hall. We had excellent views of Illuminations (and we could see some of wishes too), but a hike to the elevator. It never bothered us though, the view was worth it!

Unless this has changed in the past two years, the BW View room we stayed in was a smoking room.

As to 2BR boardwalk views, be aware: (a) they are not close to the elevator (thus requesting a 2BR boardwalk view and requesting close to the elevator is a contradiction); (b) all 2BR boardwalk view rooms are over either the Big River Grill or the old DVC store; (c) the ones over the Big River Grill have the enclosed type wooden-looking porches rather than the white metal open type porches; (d) they all have decent views of Illuminations; (e) however, that view is only of the high fireworks, you do not see anything that is going on at ground/water level at Epcot.

Wow! Can you post the same info about the 1BR or is it the same as the 2BR? BWV is my home but I haven't stayed there yet- will have that chance in December.

drusba, I don't think that is accurate either. The room BWV room we stayed in is right over the Screen Door - not far from the elevators. It was a two bedroom lockoff smoking room - handicapped.

We also stayed in a 2 bedroom unit that was over the Screen Door - it was not handicapped and on either the 3rd or the 4th floor (can't remember the room number). All the 2 bedroom units at the BWv are lock offs.

Best wishes -

according to multiple MS reps, BWV front desk, & personal experience all BW views are NS ~ of course, that STILL doesn't neccessarily mean it's writ in stone ;)

In that case, they should probably have removed the smoking optional sign and ash trays from the room we stayed in. I had heard this as well before we went, so was a little shocked that the room was a smoking room. Although it could have actually HAPPENED in the past two years that they got around to removing the smoking optional signs.

Here are some pictures from our trip in Feb 2006. DD(2.5) and I took a last minute trip (planned only 3 weeks in advance) and were able to secure a BWV BW view studio. This is on the 4th floor in a dedicated studio above Big River Grill. My DD LOVED the balcony view. She spent most of our room time out on that balcony watching the boats and the people.

ETA: Oh yeah, we had a GREAT view of the Illuminations fireworks. Illuminations is DD's favorite thing in WDW and she was too tired our final night to make it back over there, so we just cuddled up together and watched them from the balcony. It was WONDERFUL.

Here's what greeted us as we entered the door:

Here's DD enjoying the view upon our arrival:

And here's a view of where DH and I were married :love2: :

I LOVED having the BW view. It has been my favorite of all views of all of our trips. Your sis will really like it too.
