Boardwalk Vs. SSR

OK. I agree with that.

But $1 today is worth way more than $1 will be 36 years from now. So if time is money, then it follows that time today must also be worth more than time in the future. :teeth:

THEREFORE, since it takes much longer to get back to SSR after IllumiNations (or Fantasmic) than it does to walk back to the BWV - even if we stop at ESPN (or the Big River Brewery) for a beer on the way, LOL), BWV is the better choice for those who believe time is money - :teeth: :teeth: ;).

Best wishes -

Dude, you just blew my mind. :smooth:

well said. plus my DVC is for dh and i, not the kids! no free rides! :rotfl:

not to just repeat others but for us it was the location. We love MGM and epcot and we like to go to blizzard beach which is also closer to BWV.We are not big downtown people with the exception of disney quest.I never really thought about how many years are on the contract because we figured by the time we got into our 70's or 80's we would have given it to our youngest son who would be in his forty's before it expires.I'm also sure Disney will come up with a new plan by then and many more resorts to choose from.

The "time is money" argument ignores the base value element:

SSR = "DVC lite" (less attractive rooms, location, big-box-build feel, etc).

BWV = the Grand Dame of the Epcot area properties.

Or to put it more bluntly, every co-worker I know who has been looking into DVC (eight at last count) keeps asking me how to get to the top of the queue for Boardwalk re-sale offerings (a few saying BCV would be an acceptable second choice if the wait is too long). None I know of are looking at SSR.

And by the way, we all work for a major investment company.... :teeth:

You got me on thatone. :rotfl: We do agree on one thing: BWV & BCV have it all over SSR. :cool1:

Even my DS14 who hates everything (LOL) thought it was really neat to walk back to the room or take a boat home after illuminations or fantasmic.

I just talked to my guide today, Gib McCain. He said the 15% referral discount ends the end of January, 2006. For those of you trying to decide, you have a few more weeks! Get those referrals, get those calls made. I can recommend my guide and I can refer anyone needing it. e mail me at this name. i use yahoo for my email, or PM me.Good Luck.

We are SSR owners, although we would like to stay at Boardwalk in the future. We are relatively young, mid 30s, and fully plan to leave our holdings to our girls. In fact, we'd like to add on to our 200 points with some smaller contracts at Boardwalk or somewhere else.

By all means, though, take advantage of the 15 percent! :) I don't know about time, but cash is cash! :goodvibes

Love BWV that's why I got my points there last year. Oct. F&W 11 month window is great. Other times I'm find with OKW. :Pinkbounc

Honestly, there's no comparison between BWV and SSR. BCV and BWV, yes. OKW and SSR, yes. But BWV and SSR? They have nothing in common except that they are both DVC resorts. The fact that you're asking proves that you like the "in the middle of it all" feel of BWV as opposed to the out of the way, quiet feel of SSR. And if that's the case, you'll never be satisfied with SSR.

Crisi said it best:

Someone mentioned that the maintenance at BWV was "slipping" lately. I have no idea what they're talking about. It's just as beautiful and well-maintained as ever.

I personally think it's a mistake to buy somewhere just because of the latest promotion. The mantra of the DVC board is becoming, "Buy where you want to stay." Even if it means spending more money. We're talking about 35 years of vacations here! Or 40 something. Wherever you buy, it should be where you are happy spending your WDW vacations.

For me, that's the Boardwalk! ::yes::

Location, location, location. :earsgirl:

Totally agree which is one of the main reasons we love SSR, too. ::yes::

Add to that the convenience of parking close to my villa and plenty of available parking, beautiful upscale interiors and furnishings, the best fast food eatery on property, a full service spa, and some of the friendliest CMs anywhere and SSR gets my vote. :flower:

We were just at the Saratoga (1 bedroom), Beach Club (2 2 bedrooms with family and friends) and Boardwalk (studio) the week after Thanksgiving. We loved The Saratoga and are so glad that it's our home. We definitely were disappointed in the Boardwalk after staying at the Saratoga and Beach Club. The room was very small and the walk down the hallway seemed endless. The sofa bed that my DD slept on was very uncomfortable. The only way we will stay at the Boardwalk again is if there is nothing else left in any of the DVC resorts.

The BW rooms are actually supposed to be a very few unnoticable square feet larger than the ones at SSR and BCV. I don't think you can compare one and two bedrooms to a studio and complain that the room size was a factor of the resort!

BWV is supposed to get the newer sofa beds as they are replaced. They are fine for our kids, but I wouldn't sleep on one for a week without an aerobed over the top.

But its fine if you don't like BWV. Everyone has their own tastes.

I know you can't compare a studio to a larger room but, in the past, we've also stayed in a studio in the Beach Club and the Boardwalk definitely lost in the comparison. The Saratoga rooms seem like they are designed like the Beach Club, just decorated differently. So I guess, for us, the comparison would be the same.

But to each his own...

Hands down SSR for me. I have a friend who owns at BCV and the rooms at SSR and BCV are virtually identical except for the decor. I perfer SSR's decor to BC. I also looked at pics of BWV and its nice decor but you can tell they made improvements by the time they started BCV and SSR. One is putting the toilet in a seperate room so the rest of the bathroom is functional while someone is on the can :)

Epcot, yes it is close to Epcot and that is fine but it isn't a huge thing for me. Its not like I have to walk to Epcot from SSR where that would make a difference. No biggie for me to hop on a bus.

There is entertainment at the BW and BCV but there is also entertainment at SSR being that DTD is so close.

Ok, I am a bit strange but I love the fact that I can walk to DTD and not have to take the bus. I don't know but it bugs the living tar out of me to have to stop at PI/West Side and Typhoon Lagoon upon return from DTD. Maybe because every bus driver I get will sit at each stop a good 5 minutes before leaving. Really irritates me for some reason.

So for me SSR. Sure I will try them all, just to say that I did but I can't wait until I can go home more often.

Have you actually made that walk, though? We thought it sounded like a good idea so we treked over to SSR from DTD on our last trip there and let me tell you, by the time we finally made it we were regretting not taking the boat! :faint:

We walked from SSR to DTD every day during our last two-week stay and didn't think it was bad at all. We walked to both Marketplace and West Side. :)

ditto, and very nice at night. strolling hand in hand, talking of our favorite things of the day....HEAVEN!! :goodvibes We love hopping over to the Earl of Sandwich at a moment's notice.

IMHO, SSR does have the best fast food counter service on property. I don't know about ya'll, but I get burgered out very easy. We like the relaxation feel of OKW and SSR. But to each their own, right? ;) I think all of the DVC resorts have pros and cons. Just depends on what is important to you and your family. Best wishes!!!
