I am looking for some information on the difference between the Boardwalk area - and Pleasure Island. I have been to PI a couple of times - and we plan on visiting again during this trip. But I saw on another board that someone was saying that the Boardwalk area is lots of fun (Specifically "Jellyrolls").

Could you please give a little more information on the Boardwalk area - and specifically what might make it a better place to check out than PI. Also, how does Boardwalk compare to PI when it comes to allowing underage folks. This trip I am taking my two younger sisters. One is 17 (going on 25), and the other is 9 (going on 25). The younger one will really get a kick out of Adventurers Club - and can't wait to see the "New Years Eve" countdown at Midnight at PI. Is there something comprable at Boardwalk?

Thanks

They are totally different venues. Pleasure Island is an adult oriented area while the Boardwalk is definitely Family Friendly. Many adults go to Pleasure Island expecting to enjoy an evening without children (their own or other guest's), whereas the whole atmosphere at Boardwalk is geared towards families with children.

Pleasure Island has a fee, Boardwalk is free for all guests unless you play one of the games, rent a surrey bike, have your fortune told, etc. It is, in my opinion, more appropriate for younger guests than Pleasure Island.

Adventurers Club is fun, but doesn't really seem like the sort of humor children will truly enjoy (especially after, say, 9 pm) and since the Cast Members tone down their show when someone brings a child in, it takes away from the experience for the adults as well. Jellyrolls has a minimum age limit of 21, so that's out (no matter how much they feel like they're 25!), but the Boardwalk has so much more to recommend it for families that I would still say it's by far your better bet.

To add to the other post, Boardwalk has shops (art gallery, gift shop, candy/ice cream shop, bakery), several restaurants (Flying Fish, Spoodles, Big River Grill/Brewery, ESPN Club, the dueling pianos bar you mentioned, carnival style games, concession stands (corn dogs, popcorn), face painting, the surrey bike rentals. There are strolling entertainers in the evening. It is alot of fun for families, but not the "adult" atmosphere you find at PI (i.e. alcohol, dance clubs).

And to add to the others, it's conveniently located to Epcot, so it could be a nice way to wind up an Epcot day.

An FYI if you choose to go to Jellyrolls - they don't take resort ID charge as a form of payment. I sat babysitting our un-paid-for drinks while my DH ran back to our room at BCV to get an alternate means of payment - we get so spoiled just carrying around our resort IDs and drivers licenses that we literally had nothing to pay with between the two of us. Lesson learned.

Honestly, aside from the payment issue, I don't think I'd go back to Jellyrolls - just not our scene. Adventurers' Club is our favorite haunt at PI followed by Comedy Warehouse. The Boardwalk is a great place to walk around and take in all of the activities, but for bar-going you'll find us at PI. Just my .02 :)

Jellyrolls is not owned or run by Disney. That's probably why they don't take resort room charges. Smoking is still allowed there, too, although Pleasure Island has gone non-smoking for all indoor venues.

There is a cover charge after a certain time (I think it might be 9 PM) to get into Jellyrolls. last I heard it was about $5 but that was a while ago.

If it is limited to over 21, it's not an option anyway.
