Boardwalk vs. Beach Club

I've stayed at both and I'd pick BC. Love the pool it's a closer walk to Epcot. Plus, we stayed there on our honeymoon so it's a sentimental favorite.

Glad you got a place to stay and you will like BW. Epcot is just steps away with so many great options for dining. Have a wonderful trip.

Thank you all -- the help on here is invaluable!

I'm incredibly excited because I discovered that the weekend we are there is the last weekend of the Flower and Garden festival. That is the only DisneyWorld festival we have never attended! YAY :cool1:

We fly in on Friday (the 13th. Yes, flying on Friday the 13th and our seats are in row 13! Good thing I'm not superstitious. My daughter's theory is that the two 13s will cancel each other out ). Don't plan on getting park tickets for that night -- just roam around and have a nice dinner.

Saturday we are getting a one-park ticket just for Epcot. Our favorite park anyway and with the festival it will be a nice day to spend there. Not sure where we are eating dinner yet, but know we always have to do the Japanese pagoda for lunch (my daughter's one request).

Then Sunday we get on the Dream -- can't wait to see it. Afterwards we are going to Universal to visit the new Harry Potter section. Staying at Royal Pacific. Haven't been there since 2006!

Yes, I'm pleased with getting the BW. I love that whole area to walk around. We stayed at the Swan one year (loved that too) and just loved walking around the boardwalk and waterfront at night.

Question: Can you use the BC pool if you are staying at BW? Not sure if they are interchangeable.

no, but there are 2 quiet pools (one on the BWV side, and another on the BWI side) and a great themed pool, luna park, with tons of activities for the kids, a kiddie area, and a huge slide
there is also community hall by the BWV quiet pool, with ping pong, video games, bookss, board games, crafts, etc

enjoy:)

Okay -- so does the Boardwalk actually have carnival type games to play? I used to live not far from Atlantic City and I know that's what it's modelled after. Always loved those water and dart games! :yay:

I am from the east coast also and we vacationed for a week each summer in Wildwood in NJ. Anyway, they have a few games. There's a basketball toss, the squirt gun game (as kids we used to aim the gun/blow up a balloon/first one to pop their balloon won), a lobster toss game and I think maybe one other. Pretty expensive, but I guess it's all relative and it's WDW. We used to pay .25 cents to play on the boardwalk! :)

a suggestion: ask the person you are renting from if you can waitlist for a BW view. it is amazing - waking up to the sun coming up, and watching illuminations from your balcony at night. the points are the same as a pool/garden view, so it would just require a single phone call from her/him.

have a great stay!

Thank you for this tip. I did ask the person and she put in a request for the waitlist boardwalk view!

Beach Club is where I would stay with little kids.
Boardwalk is where we stay for a romantic trip for DH and me or where we stay on a trip with my teenage daughter and her friends.

I love the boardwalk.. but I feel that the rooms are so dated. I've stayed in both the villas and the inn side. As for booking, I was just looking up availability for next weekend and there is plenty, so not sure about the whole 7 month rule

They just completed a complete renovation of the villas about six months ago. The Boardwalk is themed after the New Jersey Boardwalk, not the W Hotel on Michigan Ave in Chicago.

How did you look up availability? If you use the thread on the DIS, that has nothing to do with what is available, only what might not be available. The only way to find out what is available is to call MS for the villas on points.

My apolgies.. florida resident rates are always less than renting points, so that is what I was referring to

Big River Brewing Company is great for dinner. Located right at Boardwalk Inn/Villas. They have great seafood and pub food and beer of course. One of the best things I think is that it doesn't take reservations. You aren't confined to a certain time to get there. Just enjoy your day at Epcot and come home for a great meal. We'll be eating there again on this trip but for lunch this time.

That would depend on what the rental price is. I know people that have rented for $6 a point.

The 7 month booking refers to booking with points for a DVC member not paying cash.

We've eaten there twice. The second time was the worst meal ever at WDW. Burned food that was still frozen inside. Funny, I didn't see that on the menu. And terrible service - rude and ignored us.

Then the BW should be great as my daughter is 24 and we have no little ones :thumbsup2

And I notice that Spoodles is gone on the Boardwalk!

Great suggestion! We ate there back in Dec 2008 one day for lunch before heading over to Epcot again and enjoyed just walking up and getting a table. We ate outside which my GS loved - watching the birds :goodvibes

When was that?

I prefer BWV for the location and the Boardwalk Buskers group of magicians, jugglers and
other entertainers.
I own a BWV contract so I might be biased.
