Hello everyone,

I'm a DVC owner with my home resort at VWL. We are considering getting a three bedroom villa next year at either the Boardwalk Villas or Saratoga Springs. I have two questions for anyone who has stayed at the Boardwalk:

1. BWV is more points than Saratoga. Is it worth the extra points?

2. What's the noise level like? I have two children who tend to go to bed early by most family standards. We like VWL because it's always been pretty quiet and I'm worried the boardwalk would be too loud for us.

Thanks!
Shelly

First, welcome to the DIS!!!

The easy answer is that all BWV room classes (except standard view) are "priced" higher than SSR largely because of location. With BWV being walking distance from Epcot and MGM, many consider it a more desirable location for a stay. The same holds true for the Beach Club and VWL.

You should get some good feedback regarding the BWV Grand Villas. If memory serves, BWV has 5 single-story GVs and 2 two-story GVs. All have a Boardwalk View, which may result in undesirable noise levels. Some people say the BW doesn't bother them at all--others don't particularly care for it.

About a month ago we toured a Grand Villa at SSR and I have to say that the room was fantastic. The rooms that face Downtown Disney have full-length windows that look right out at the water. The furnishings are first-class all the way.

And, with regard to the SSR noise level, they apparently utilized specific building materials to sufficiently block any noise originating from Downtown Disney--including the midnight fireworks. People who have stayed there reported that with doors and windows closed, they could hear absolutely no noise from the fireworks or other ambient sounds from DD.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. You just need to decide which resort is right for you, and whether the additional points for BWV are warranted.

Given that you'll be booking either resort at 7 months, it may be a moot point anyway. As I said, BWV only has 7 GVs. By August '04, SSR will have 8 GVs open and two more will open each month from Jan to Aug '05.

Good luck!

I can't speak about the GV at the BWV as we won't have our first stay in one until December. I have, however, stayed in a BW view room, in fact one that looked right out over the Screen Door General Store and out to the midway games they have open in the evenings. Once we shut our patio doors, we never heard a word for the entire week we were there.
