We have a (not standard view, not boardwalk view, inbetween) 1 bedroom villa booked for the Food & Wine Festival this year. We've not stayed here before, so I"m looking for some suggestions on which sections to request. We can at least ask politely if we can be in certain sections, but I"m truly happy with being at BWV for this!

We'd like to be near Epcot, to cut down on the walking back to the room late at night, after eating/drinking too much. I'd also like a quiet area, not right over/on the boardwalk. And if it's physically possible, wouldn't mind being near the feature pool (though I don't think that is possible).

Anyone have any suggetions on which sections to request to meet what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

You are only going to be as near to Epcot as the resort is, so not sure that would be a room request. I guess being closer to the lobby makes you closer.

You have a garden view and yes you can ask to be near the Clown pool. Since you don't have a Boardwalk view booked you will not be over the Boardwalk area.

I would suggest looking a map and getting some idea of how the resort is laid out. Your room will be one of the ones in Red.

Here is a good one. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/VWL_Granny/BWVRoomViews.jpg

You can ask for a pool view. The preferred rooms face both the quiet pool and main pool. There is also the quiet garden view. I've stayed at the BWV 10 times now and have never gotten any of my requests, but hopefully you'll do better. Pretty much whatever I request I get the opposite. My last request for a pool view put me at the end of the resort (near Atlantic Dance) facing the Swan and Dolphin -- which I said, when I asked for a pool view, I didn't think I was going to get the view of the Swan and Dolphin pool! I still like the BWV -- heck I own there -- but I gave up getting requests here a long time ago. Are you staying on points or paying cash? If cash, your odds are probably better ... on points -- good luck.

You'd have to be at the BWInn to be closer to Epcot. There is only one elevator bank at BWV, so no matter where your villa is, you'll only be as close as the elevator.

There are several stairwells throughout the building. If you end up on the far ends, you can take the steps. For example, one set of stairs comes out close to the bus stop. Or if you are on the end near the main pool, there are steps that come out right at the corner with the store, saves you a few steps backtracking to the elevator. Another comes out behind Jellyrolls. If you have a stroller, I would request first floor so that you don't even have to worry about steps.

If you have a studio booked, I would request Village Green view, that is the closest to Epcot.

Agree with pp - use the stairs. We actually prefer to be futher down the hallways since we won't have people walking by our villa in the early morning or late at night. We just use the stairs to get where ever we want to go. The only time we use the elevators in when checking in and out - with the luggage.

We too have not received most of our room requests when checking in. We ask for a room close to the elevator and we end up in the farthest room. We ask for a high floor and end up on the 2nd. Each time we inquire if there are any other rooms available and on most occassions we have been able to switch. I am not saying it always works, but is worth a try if your original request does not come through.

I'm new to DVC - just bought in a few days ago. Are the Boardwalk View and Preferred (water/garden) View different reservation categories?

Yes. Boardwalk views are limited and they book out very quickly, mostly by members whose home resort is Boardwalk. Only members can book boardwalk views, with the exception of Grand Villas- all of which are BW view and can be booked by anyone.

If you request a pool view, make sure you specify the Luna Park Pool, not the quiet pool. We had a pool view in January, but overlooked the quiet pool. We were the very last room in the hallway. I think we were closer to HS than Epcot.

But only if waking up to the clown slide at Luna Park doesn't freak you out.

I always ask for a room close to elevator, we like 4066, 4064 and 5066, 5064.

Nice view of pool and swan/dolphin.

We always ask for a room at the end of a hall. We find there are fewer noisy kids running by and shouting for their parents to hurry when we're the last or nearly the last room on a hallway. The walk to the elevator doesn't bother us.

Funny, we always tend to be granted our request for a room that is a long way from the elevators!
