Boardwalk Villas vs Beach club Villas?

I'm planning our first WDW trip for several years! We've done Disney cruises the last 3 years but I have an urge to do WDW before DD goes to college. I'm thinking about a one BR villa (kids can sleep in living room). We definitely want to stay in EPCOT area (usually stay at Yacht Club). Which is preferred, Boardwalk or Beach Club (they're the same price)?

It depends on what you do when you're not in the parks I guess

Boardwalk is a closer to all the shops and restaurants along the Boardwalk, but because of that the area is generally a little busier.
BC has Stormalong bay which is widely considered to be the best pool in WDW so if you have a family of swimmers then that might be good for you.

Then there's the decor since you always want to stay somewhere that you think looks nice and for that reason I would choose the Beach Club, but that's just me :)

We've only stayed at the BCV's and loved it there. The location is great with Epcot a few steps away and the Marketplace close by for counter service. The pool can't be beat.

The Boardwalk villas are very close to Hollywood Studios. They are also close to all the Boardwalk restaurants. It is a nice option when you have teenagers.

One thing that some people fail to mention is that Boardwalk has no Interior Restuarants. If it is raining out you have to brave the rain for a meal or Order Room service. The is a Breakfast offering but I have never heard anyone rave over it.

If you are going to use the pool, definitely BCV. Nothing beats SAB. On our last trip we did a split stay at BWV and BCV which was fun to see two resorts but I would choose BCV. I think both have an equally good location.

I love them both, but I guess the deal breaker would be whether your kids perfer to swim at SAB.

Personally, I was certain I would like BCV better than BWV, but I found that I actually like the BWV's better. I just think there is something about the Jersey shore/ Coney Island vibe that I really like. I love the way the main areas of the inn are decorated. I also think both of the quiet pools are nicer at BWV.

As far as villa views - I think the views from the garden/pool/ boardwalk villas are a lot nicer than the BCV views.

If you are driving, however - parking is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better at the BC. I also like the staff better at the BC.

You can't go wrong with either resort, IMHO!

Both are in the wonderful EPCOT location which allows you to get to EPCOT and HS.

I have only stayed at BCV. It is amazing! lLike have others have said/will say SAB is so much fun. Even if you still want to experience BWV you can just walk or boat over there from the BC.

We've stayed at both multiple times. Both are good but we prefer BCV when we have the option. We like BCV's quieter atmosphere and its slightly closer to Epcot plus we can go to SAB if we feel like it. Additionally, we usually have a car and parking is much more convenient at BCV.

I have stayed at both and while I prefer the BWI rooms better, the BWV rooms vs. BCV rooms are virtually identical. We had a great 1 BR with a huge balcony overlooking the quiet pool the last time we were at BC and our last BLT visit we had a boardwalk view which was also awesome (if a bit loud at night) - The "lack" of a QS never bothered us, but YMMV. I do think at the end of the day the pool should be the deciding factor. I miss my BW resorts!!

Thank you everyone! The "problem" with Disney is that very often there are no bad choices, just 2 good ones!

For those who have stayed in the one BR villas, will it work if both teens sleep in the living room area? They can access the bathroom without going through our room, right? And they have their own TV (critical!)?

Yes and yes. The teens would be able to sleep on the sofa bed. The bathroom has a separate door to the living area so they don't have to walk through the master bedroom. And there is a TV in the living room as well as the master bedroom. The rooms were stayed in had balconies for each room, too. :)

Here are pictures of the studios and villas at the Beach Club: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=46788473&postcount=11

You can see how the doors to the bathroom work.

Perfect! Thank you!

One final question....do we have any options if the teens don't wish to sleep in the same bed? They're at "that age"! One would be willing to sleep on rollaway or on the floor, does Disney allow for that?

Just thinking about this trip has pulled me from my post holiday slump!!!!!!:cool1:

DVC does not provide rollaway's or extra bedding beyond what is already in the unit. You'll need to bring along your own bedding/airmattress.
