Boardwalk Villas - To walk, boat or bus?

From the maps it looks like there are a couple of options for us to get to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Does anyone have a preferred method? What about taking a boat/walking to Epcot and then taking the skyliner over to Hollywood studios? Though really it looks like a round about way to get there... they need to put in a connector sykliner from the board walk :-)

What about other places? Bus? I think we're going to skip on Animal kingdom this year and do 2 days at MK 2 days at Epcot and 1 day at HS.

Thanks

Walking to Epcot and Studios is a big benefit of staying at BWV. If mobility is an issue, take the Friendship boat. Skyliner is fun for the novelty of it, but it’s very roundabout. It involves a walk to Epcot, then ride the skyliner to Caribbean beach resort then transfer to the Hollywood studios line.

Easiest way to MK is the bus. If you have a park hopper and want the scenic route, you could walk from BW, through Epcot, and take the monorail to MK. But again, this requires a parkhopper ticket.

We stayed at boardwalk for one night in December. We took a bus to AK ( 10 minute bus ride) and walked to hollywood studios, I think from our location it was actually faster to walk to hollywood studios over walking to the friendship boats.

I haven’t stayed at BWV, but stay at YC often & walk or boat to DS several times each trip. I think a lot will depend on where exactly your room is. Some of the BWV building & rooms seem closer to the studios than they are to Epcot. It could take close to 15 minutes just to walk back to Epcot from that area of the building. But 10 minutes in the other direction would put you exiting the path at the Studios. There are other rooms that would be much closer to Epcot. The boat dock is probably 5 - 7 minutes. Remember with the boat there will probably be a wait for one to arrive unless you get really lucky. So you might wait to see where your room ends up & decide from there.

The most direct method to get to MK would be bus. Some people with park hoppers like to walk thru Epcot & take the monorail. Or take the monorail to Epcot from MK & then walk back to their Epcot resort. Personally that is too much extra walking & would be a waste of time to us.

Walking to both is fastest. It’s way too close to Epcot to even consider using the boat. For HS it’s faster since BWI is the first/last stop

And a monorail change

Agree with other posters above, the easiest way to get to EPCOT is to walk. It is a quick walk and easy on the legs/feet :)

I can do the walk to DS on the way there, but after a long day in the park I am too hot and tired for the walk home. I take the boat. It is much faster to walk to DS than take the boat, but my feet always thank me for it.

The bus service is usually good to MK, especially in the AM. Sometimes, we like to take a Minnie Van. The Minnie Van will take you to the bus area at MK and it was a very quick trip. Sometimes I will get a coupon through Lyft and it applies to Minnie Van service too.

Going to Epcot if you need to wait for the boat you are right that it is probably faster to walk. If the boat is already there, you will get there faster than walking.

If your feet/legs aren’t dead already from the parks the walks aren’t bad.

I've walked many, many times, with the boat and me leaving at the same time and I got to the door of the resort before anyone getting off the boat did. And I walk VERY slow

Really roundabout. Boat to Epcot, Skyliner from Epcot to CBR, transfer to DHS line.

Respectfullh, no they don't.

We always walk to Epcot from Yacht Club. A very easy, short walk. I've walked and taken the boat to/from Yacht Club and Hollywood Studios. The boat is probably slightly faster--on one trip our family was waiting for the boat and I had to run back to the room to pick up something we forgot. The boat was just leaving as I got back to the dock, and I had to walk pretty fast and even jog a little bit to arrive at Hollywood Studios with the boat. My family prefers the boat simply because it is about a 20 minute walk to/from Hollywood Studios, and they figure we do enough walking during the day, although I'd probably walk if given the option. I mostly Uber/Lyft from Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom, asking the driver to drop us at Contemporary then walking to Magic Kingdom. We sometimes take the bus, usually if we are leaving when Magic Kingdom closes. I don't like the buses--don't like waiting for them, don't like the fact that they sometimes stop at other resorts before dropping you off, don't like the crying kids--so avoid them if I can. But they are probably the best way to get back to the resort in the evenings, other than Minnie Vans, which I think are too expensive now.

On edit, I would say that the boat to Hollywood Studios is slightly faster from Yacht Club than walking, but I can see where it would be faster to walk from Boardwalk since the boat still has to stop at Yacht Club. One alternative depending on where your room is might be to catch the boat or get off at the Swan/Dolphin stop--that might be a bit faster than going all the way to Boardwalk stop.

Another one for walking to Epcot and HS. The only time we take the boat is from HS after a long day and if it's close to the dock when we get to within eye sight and there isn't a long line. Even then we get off at the Swan dock since it's the first one and walk over the bridge to BW. Otherwise, it's walking. We bus to MK, again the only way we monorail is if we are already at the front of the park. I'm not a fan of the monorail. Bus to AK.

Definitely walk! If you're able to walk to both, it's definitely the way to go.

Definitely walk! That is the perk of staying there, you don’t have to deal with the transportation. It is my favorite part of the Boardwalk hotels! I should note my family despises all the transportation options. I will gladly own up to the fact that we are not
patient waiting for buses or boats, and we have no desire to be squished on a bus after already paying so much for the Disney trip. We either walk or pay the extra take the Minnie van.

We love walking to and from the parks! I think that novelty makes it sort of magical even when you’re tired. :)

I like walking to the parks and taking the boat back when my feet can use the break.

We have stayed at BW 5 times. Always walk to both parks, unless boat is there for HS. No reason to walk to Epcot unless issues with walking, as it is not even 5 minutes. We will take the boat back from HS occasionally but usually walk. It is an easy 12-15 minute walk. Main reason we love staying there.
