Boardwalk Villas... stairs?

We have a Boardwalk view for our upcoming trip. Since we'll presumably be quite far away from the elevators, I'm wondering: Are there any stairwells nearby we could use instead?

I believe all the stairways are at the ends of the hallways. Depending on where your room is, the stairs may be right there. Our last stay we were on the 4th floor at the end of the hall....the stairs were right there and made coming and going very easy.

there are several stairs - so if you aren't close to an elevator - just look for the stairs (they aren't attractive - so you need to really look for them)

We used the stairs when we were there. Very handy. Just be aware that some of them are exit only -- you can get out of the building but won't be able to get back in that way.

We use the stairs all the time when we're going out (except when we're leaving and have our luggage!), and a lot of times coming in, if we're coming in from the Studios or the parking lot. The only stairwell we've found on the Boardwalk side (near the kid's club) is one way - you can come out, but you can't get back in from there. At the other doors after some time of night you need your room key to enter.

I tend to like the set that lets you out by the ATM machine.

In July we were in room 4001 with a boardwalk view. (The view was gorgeous) but we were far from the elevators. There was a set of stairs right outside our door that we used on several occassions both coming and going. There was another set of stairs a little further down the hall towards the elevators that was conveneint to get to the Luna Park Pool area.

Our first stay at BWV, we were in a room by the canal. We walked down the stairs and it seemed like we were 1/2 way to MGM! :teeth:

Us too!!! We were on the top floor, about 4 doors from the end of the bldg...we always used those stairs. I felt like we took about 8 minutes off the walk to MGM if we used the stairs instead of the elevator!!!

On a December stay I had a studio right around the corner from the elevators overlooking the grassy area right in front of the BW porch area. Although it was close to the elevator it was one flight up the stairs and first door down...so convenient!! And I could hear and watch the Christmas carolers from my balcony!!

Sorry to be OT but Pouncing I love the wedding pics in your post - they are gorgeous!

We love those stairs!! :rotfl2: We usually get stuck in the furthest room on the left on the fifth floor by those stairs.. The one advantage is the short distance to MGM..

Minnie, that is my favorite one bedroom BWV villa - we've stayed in it twice (once in August 2000, again in August 2005). Because of how the villa building follows the curve of the Boardwalk, 4001 -- which is the very end of the curve -- almost directly faces Epcot. Consequently, its Illuminations view is the best of just about any villa in the whole resort.

You are correct about the stairs, the ones right next to 4001 take you out to the walkway near the bridge to the Swan and Dolphin. That works great for getting boats or buses to the parks at those hotels (the routes for most park buses as well as some of the boats have them stopping at those hotels before the Boardwalk, so you can often save some time by getting on or off there and walking over to that "backdoor" BWV entrance).

The other stairs you mentioned (which are mid hall, whoever said all the stairs are at the end of hallways is incorrect) are great for getting to/from the Luna pool.

we just returned from BWV. we stayed in 4002, right across the hall from minnie's favorite 1bdrm. the room was ok. it was a little run down, showing wear and tear. the stairs are allright, but tough coming back from a day at the parks with 3 girls, its a handfull carrying them up1 :)

the room does have a really fun view of the canal, and the swan hotel. its neat watching the buses go by. however, you are right next to the "dumpster area". its not like you see it much, but you do HEAR it every morning at about 2am when the resturants fill the dumpster, and again at 5:30am when they empty the dumpsters.
