I just bought at BWV. :goodvibes I will be staying there for the pin event next June. I was looking for information about BWV and I am having a hard time finding dedicated threads for BWV. I belong to a couple of AKL & AKV threads, but can't find any for BW? :confused3 Am I looking in the wrong place or are the people more reserved in their posting?
Thanks, Penny:hippie:

BoardWalk owners don't post... It's is beneath us. :snooty:

Well, we post sometimes. Why don't you start a thread?

there was one - also own at BWV - so what do you want to know?

now it is not my favorite DVC resort - a little too city like. but some people love it.

oh yea the carpert in the halls is not dirty - if you look at all the carpet you will see this is part of the pattern.

now BW definitely needs a new interior designer - so the reports you might read about it being dirty - have more to do with a bad design (my opinion) that anything actually wrong with the resort.

I have also taken off my shoes and wore my white socks across the floor - and they were still basically white.

the laundy room is on the first floor - near the gym and swimming pool.

so you can go swimming and do the laundry - although not as convience as OKW and SSR. (this is for studio - the laundry mat is free)

the pool bar serves (or did) hot dogs - not hamburgers - so you need to go outside of the resort for your meals (there is a room service but it is expensive). the hotel considers the BW restuarants as part of the BWV.

the refillable mugs can be a problem - the bakery was the only place that did the refills - someone else say the pool bar. but when I asked got told 'no' - so definitely don't really know about this one.

the play area next to the swimming pool is pretty nice.

the community hall is next to the quiet pool and has a bunch of stuff that OKW does not have - despite OKW being bigger (or I think)

LOL :lmao:
I would start a thread but I have only stayed there once so I have little to offer. I am looking to gain from the wisdom of the wise ones. :worship: What I hope to gain, I am not sure, but there has to be something I don't know?:confused3
I will continue to troll the DVC boards to see what else I can learn. popcorn::
Thanks, Penny:hippie:

Thank you so much. I am looking forward to my first stay there with my soon to be 9 year old niece. We are staying there because I require an ECV and won't have a car this trip. Staying BWV will allow me to use the boats (which people don't give you dirty looks when you use the boats), walk from Epcot and use the Monorail to MK so I will only need the buses for AK. We are renting a 1 BR (just my niece and I). She will get the pull out couch or we will share the King Sized bed, which ever she wants. We are getting the meal plan, but I have not eaten in many of the restaraunts around the BW/BC so I will troll the Food threads for recommendations. We won't arrive until 10:00 Friday night as I have to work that day (off the whole next week). Are there any inside tips we need to know about late arrival? or about using ME (our first time) and coming in late. Also, any recommendations for where I can get 12 packs of soda, 1/2 & 1/2, milk and bread (I will bring cereal) for Breakfast?

I will think of more questions and post them. thanks in advance, Penny:hippie:

The Bellevue Room is a lovely bar - say hi to Tim the bartender - its over on the Inn side.

The pool slide is really nice - longer than many of them, not tunnelled at all (so old people like me can sit up through the whole thing) - though it does end with Pennywise the Clown spitting you into the pool - if you've read too much Stephen King.

The community pool is also nice. The community hall offers arts and crafts if you are "parked out."

Try and plan for at least one evening at the resort on the Boardwalk to watch the jugglers and such. My mother was transfixed by the Boardwalk entertainment - she thought it was the coolest thing.

There are places near the resort to watch SOME of the Illuminations fireworks from if you can't see them from your room. I like the door into the garden on the Inn side. And as long as I'm talking about the garden on the Inn side, that garden is one of my favorite hidden secrets at WDW - especially if its in bloom.

Shopping can be done at the Screen Door, although if you want much more than basics you may want to put in an order with a grocery delivery service. (I don't think they have 12 packs of soda, you could probably get them from the Hess station at the corner, I think its quite a hike over to the Hess station, but not everyone does).

Note that you cannot get through Epcot to catch the monorail until Epcot opens - which means if you want to be at the MK for opening, you'll need to take a bus - otherwise, plan on arriving about an hour after MK opening. Its actually quite a hike from the monorail to BWV (or vice versa) - we do it often and like the walk, but it isn't a short walk.

Restaurants - in addition the the BW restaurants the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin and Y&BC are pretty accessible - as is the World Showcase. Boardwalk does not really have a fast food place other than the tiny Boardwalk Bakery and a few food carts that are open in the evening.

That was our first stay at BWV Inn...garden view and we loved it! How do you get to the garden without walking thru the Inn?

Crisi - thank you. I have officially started my Boardwalk Tips File. :goodvibes See, you guys aren't at all :snooty: just reserved. ;)
Thanks again, Penny:hippie:

Just walk through the Inn. It isn't accessible from outside, its an enclosed courtyard. But if you just continue down the hall from the Bellvue room, there is a door to the garden.

As noted, you can get those staples such as bread, half and half, soda, etc. at the general store on the boardwalk but it is of course Disney prices and ordering a grocery delivery is an option. The boardwalk itself in the evening has some street performers who are fairly decent if you want to watch something for about 20 minutes a piece. The ice cream shop has very good ice cream. Spoodles is a very good Italian restaurant (excellent lasagna and fettacuni with clam sauce). I am told it also has a good breakfast, however in the eleven years I have been going there I have never made it for breakfast. Flying fish is a bit upscale (still casual) and more expensive but very good for seafood. Big River has large variety of home brewed beers, good burgers, steak sandwiches and other food. Jellyrolls is a good bar/night club with piano players. ESPN club has very good short order stuff such as burgers, dogs, fish sandwiches, etc. and is a sports lovers dream. Neither Big River nor ESPN take reservations

Nearby Beach Club (walk or boat) has the Cape May Cafe with one of the best dinner buffets (specializing in seafood but having everything else too) at Disney. (Dinner is not a character meal.) The Yachtman's steakhouse at Yacht Club is good for steak but expensive. Another very good restaurant is Palio's at the Swan (Italian, you can see my leanings here). Of course, you also have easy dinner access to all the Epcot restaurants.

The pool is nice. We like to get tables with umbrellas near the bar -- fortunately or unfortunately the bartenders there know me as soon as we show up and immediately start a tab; it has been the same bartenders for about 8 years. One thing if you want to find one of quietest places in Disney World -- go to the BWI side quiet pool area (that garden area mentioned above), it is a very large area enclosed by the buildings with lots of grassy areas and there are usually no or only a few people there.
