Boardwalk view at BWV--why is it good?

I had read a few weeks back that the boardwalk view was prime, so I called to request it for our trip in December (20-24th) and today, I got a new confirmation in the mail stating "Vacation home type: 2 bedrm Boardwalk View". This is not the "request" area of the confirmation because there I have "non smoking" and "near elevators."

So, tell me why this will be good? We have stayed there once before, preferred view, but were facing the water and could see ToT. I thought that was nice and my kids saw fireworks from the balcony one night when DH and I went out alone. Is this going to be a noisy side?

Thanks.

Lots of people like being on the Boardwalk...seeing the people, and listening to the sounds....I on the other hand prefer not to be on the boardwalk...so, really can't give you specific reasons why people want to be there....but enjoy it is a difficult request to get....:D

What exactly can you see from the baordwalk view? Is it jsut the boardwalk with YC/BC across the water or can you also see any of Epcot? illumiNatiosn, too?

We aren't huge fans of the Boardwalk view. We thought that it would be cool and got one our first stay there. But we really like a quiet pool view the best.

I've stayed on BW view twice and loved it both times.

Once was on the 2nd floor over the general store. It wasn't noisy at all. Very nice to sit on the deck in the am with coffee but we weren't in the room at all at night. You can see the lake, parts of the BW itself, Spaceship Earth.

The second time we were on the 5th floor way down at the end over the DVC offices. Nice, nice, nice. I would love to be there again. A long walk, but not noisy - even with the nightclub near us and a wonderful view of Illuminations over the Sports Bar down at the end.

Being from Maine and living near the coast, I love the sounds of the boats (even the horns! as some people have said they don't like) and the waterfront.

I haven't stayed at BWV with a BW View, but I would think that for some that view of the Boardwalk, Crescent Lake and the Y&BC area would be considered a wonderful view. Also, if you're into people watching, it would probably be one of the best views of all the DVC resorts.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it very much. And the noise factor.....well, we've had widely diverse opinions about that here. I wouldn't worry about it...just go and enjoy the trip! :)

Hi,

I stayed there once in oct. 2000. I stayed on the second floor over a cafe next to the general store area in a 2br. We loved sitting on the balcony at night seeing the lights reflecting off the water, the beach club, spaceship earth, and the high fireworks. We also loved watching the people walking by (they can be a little silly at night). The only down side was the noise late at night of the people and carts rolling down the boardwalk. I am not sure but i think it was trash carts. Workers cleaning up. The noise was not too bad though. I did not bring my noise maker with me, so, I turned on the dryer every night and it blocked all the outside noise. I am picky with the type of noises I can sleep too :p . I had a 1 year old DD at the time and the noise did not bother her at all. She was too wiped out at the end of the night to be affected by it.

Overall, I would not let the noise stop me from staying on that side again. I would do it in a heartbeat.

We've stayed at Boardwalk three times; the last time we took four friends with us so we had three rooms. None of them have ever been a boardwalk view, but I keep thinking I'd like to see what it is like. We are kind of tired of staying at the boardwalk now though, the rooms can be sooo far away.

Boardwalk view preference is very individual. We've had PV twice and now request SV. We had a luna pool view one time we would have enjoyed it if we could have sat on the balcony and actually seen something but it was an enclosed balconey and you couldn't see anything sitting down. The other was over the models and we did find it noisy when the dance clubs closed, but enjoyed watching the activities. We decided that we rather save a couple of points and book SV. I think everyone should experience the Boardwalk view at least once.

We had a boardwalk view on our trip in June. We were on the 4th floor and the 2nd floor during our stay. It was nice to step out in the morning and see Spaceship Earth, the boats and the sun reflecting off the water.

We didn't have any noise issues.

Other views would be nice, too. Heck, your at Disney and life is good!

Yes, I think any stay at Disney is great and I love for each time to have something different. So we will try it. I plan on staying at OKW to save points most trips, but I thought this would be nice during the holidays.

When we stayed on the canal side, the boats were like alarm clocks, which was okay because it got us up. But maybe we can sleep in on the Boardwalk side, since we tend to stay up late too.

Actually our only other time staying at BWV was a room soooo far away from the elevators, plus I was always turned around coming out of our villa for some reason and constantly walked the wrong direction to the elevators , so I did request to be nearer to them this time. It will be curious to see if I get that one.

I just am so excited about staying where I can walk to Epcot and MGM that nothing else really matters. I'll bring ear plugs, just in case.
;)

For us, it's definitely the view! We were engaged on the Beach and the Beach Club and married at Epcot with our reception at Atlantic Dance on the Boardwalk. So we're hoping we'll be able to see both from our balcony in January for our 5th anniversary.

All those wonderful memories aside, I wouldn't normally spend points on a PV at BWV. We're OKW members and really love the more relaxed feel of the resort there as well as being able to conserve points so we can stay longer. I'd love to try an SV and BWV sometime though, if I could get one with the 7-month window.
