Boardwalk to Dolphin

I will be renting a car for a 5 days during our August trip. We are staying at the Boardwalk and will be picking it up at the Dolphin (either through National or Alamo) the day that we arrive.

Is it close enough to walk? Or, should I contact the car company and ask for the shuttle?

We really like having a car when we are there (do not like to do the buses and have AAA Diamond parking pass so we are usually right up front) but it was over $120 cheaper to do it for 5 days instead of the full 7. I will take ME to the Boardwalk, get the rental car, turn it in 5 days later, and then take ME back to the airport.

Any help or info from anyone who has done this before would be appreciated!

It's a very easy walk to the Dolphin. The Swan is just steps away from BWV, across a small bridge. The Dolphin is right next door to the Swan (next to YC). I'd guess it would take about 10 minutes from the BW lobby to the Dolphin lobby.

My 12 yr old says walk it's not far. We usually hop off the Park buses at The Dolphin/Swan and walk back to BWV(it's usually quicker).

I did exactly this last Christmas and for the same reason. The office hours for the rental counter are limited--I think 8:00 or 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so don't plan to pick up too early or too late.

I'm surprised to hear that it's cheaper to pick-up at the dolphin than it is at MCO. keep your eye on the rates as you get closer to your date for both pick-up locations. Last time we went, I literally changed my reservation 3 times because the price kept dropping or discount codes were released. Our final rate was booked the day before we picked the car up!

You can take the Friendship over to Swan/Dolphin too if you don't want to

walk it but the walk is short and nice to do; I'd walk unless you're pressed

for time or it's too hot.

The boat actually takes much longer because it stops at YC/BC before proceeding to Swan/Dolphin.
