Boardwalk Standard view

Hi,

I am wondering how hard it is to get a standard view at the Boardwalk in a 1 or 2 bedroom if you book day by day at the 11 month window???

Since there are so few SV rooms, you have to book day by day to assure yourself of one. I have never tried, I am not a BWV member...surprise, surprise, but I believe that as long as you call before noon each day, you will have no problem.

I am a BWV member and have booked villas there many times. For certain very poplar times of the year i.e. the first week of Dec it is often necessary to call day by day for a standard view room but at other times of the year you can book the whole trip at one time at the 11 month mark which corresponds to the last day of your trip and then there have also been quite a few times that I have booked a standard view room at less than the 11 month mark. Once you get into the 7 month mark or less it gets much more difficult to get a standard view because then the reservations are open to all DVC members and not just BWV owners. But you never know, sometimes you get lucky at even 7 momths or less, I was able to get a standard view villa in the beginning of Dec for this year by being on a waitlist, the days came through one by one and I was on the waitlist for months, but I got them all!!

I successfully booked a 4-night stay in standard view 1BR at BWV, even though we own at OKW. I called in April 2001, 7 months before our check-out date in early November 2001. I got part of the stay right a away, and I waitlisted for the remaining days. The waitlist cleared in a day or two.

If you own at BWV, I wouldn't bother calling day by day -- unless you are trying for Sunday through Thursday during Christmas week or Easter week. Just call 11 months from before the checkout date.

At least that's my opinion.

Aren't approximately 20% of the BWV rooms standard view?

Normally you can just wait to call 11 months from date of departure from WDW and not call day by day. However, if you are planning to go between now and end of next year you should probably try day by day. Reason: the repair and repainting that is going on outside. They are doing part of the standard views now (those overlooking tennis courts), they will be moving to at least part of the front probably during Spring next year -- likely 30% or more of the standard views are going to be out of service at any particular time until later next year (and they make up only 20% of all rooms). As a result, calling as early as possible even day by day is advisable for now.

I usually call at the 11 month for the entire week Standard View 2 bdrm without a problem....

I got a standard view in August for my September trip. Of course, it was one of those "nasty" smoking rooms!

We routinely book day-by-day 11 months out for a standard view and have never had any difficulty...........

I tried to book this June for 2 standard view studios for May 2003 at my 11 month window and they had nothing. I tried for the 6 nights all at once. Next time I will do day by day. Ended up with 2 PV studios and wait listed for standard studios or 2 bedroom standard.

Call day by day if you can. It doesn't hurt. Why chance it if you are sure you are going? I have been shut out calling day by day only for New Year's Eve. One room did eventually come through on a wait list. Still waiting on the other.

We usually call day by day for our 2-bedroom BWV reservations in late Nov/early December. Last year we decided to add a few nights to the beginning of our trip and even though it was 10 months, 28 days out, we couldn't get the std. view rooms. As it is now we're in a pref. view for the first 2 days of our trip then we switch to a std. view for the next 7 days. The points aren't so much an issue anymore - I'm just not looking forward to having to change rooms.

On the other hand, we got a std view 1-bedroom for late-June by calling in mid-January. I think it all depends on what time of year you plan on travelling. But like someone else said, if you're sure of the dates you may as well go ahead and call day by day, if for nothing else than the peace of mind.

This is the 2nd year I have booked a 1 bedroom standard view for the 2nd week of December. I called at the 11 month window and called everyday. So far, no problem.
