Boardwalk Standard View--tell me about it...

....we are contemplating a small BW purchase instead of waiting for the elusive BCV.....the only advantage that I can think of (and I think it could be a great one) is that 50 points or so could get us a standard view for a week during off periods (even Food and Wine Festival!).......what can we expect from a standard view room versus preferred. We've stayed at BW twice, once with a Luna Park view and the other facing the courtyard/boardwalk....

I love the standard view.

You are looking at the drive way to the front of the resort or the parking lot.

there is gardens close to you.

in the higher rooms you can see the fireworks (only the higher ones from studios or epcot - in some places both)

there are shortcuts to the main pool - if you are bad at finding things - just ask the bell services. 0h in most cases you are taking the steps not the elevators to get to the short cuts.

I like the standard view also. There is also a path that leads to the bus stop/ parking lot on the standard view side. You have to go by stairs though

like the preferred views - some are - some aren't.

some are right next to the elevators.

Since these standard view rooms were made available right before we became members, I'm not familiar with any of the specifics. Namely, is this category one that will be around forever, or is there the possibility of all rooms going back to one set price like BCV?

It is possible - Disney did reserve the right to reallocate points.

But IMHO, it is highly unlikely. Don't think Disney would want to deal with large numbers of very upset BWV owners for no benefit to Disney. Can't think of any benefit to Disney to eliminate the standard view category - any cost savings in the reservation area would benefit the members not Disney.

FWIW, IMHO, standard view at BWV is the best DVC bargain on property!

The standard view we stayed in at the Boardwalk overlooked the front entrance. It was pretty at night, with all the lights and such, and interesting during the day to watch the comings and goings.[/COLOR]
