I I booked our next trip today, fairly new members here, but I was pretty pumped to get a Boardwalk standard view 1BR for Memorial
Day week. My wife is a school teacher so we are limited on when we can travel to the most crowded times of year, but they get out the Friday before Memorial Day and we decided to go ahead and go then. We were planning on trying BCV for SAB, but I just couldn't pass up the point savings for the standard view.

We've stayed at BWV before, but do y'all think my nearly four year old will enjoy the pool at BWV? We intend to try BCV soon for SAB, but what do y'all think about Luna Park Pool for young children? Also, is availability this good normal for Memorial Day? If so it may become our preferred time to go because we could get just about anything we wanted except for AKV Club or Value.

I would definitely stick with BWV. Save those points! At that age he will like any pool and slide. You can always go there next time :) SAB is not mine or my kids favorite. They actually prefer the pool by the villas and only go over to SAB to go down the slide a few times.

May is a low to moderate DVC demand time and that includes Memorial Day weekend. You should not count on always getting BWV standard or boardwalk view during May because often those are not available for time in May at 7 months out, but May is one of the months when the chances are better than other months.

My wife is also a school teacher and that last week of May is when we typically travel.

"drusba" is correct. We have always had success booking at non-home resort for our late May trips. So though the crowds may be heavier at the parks than other times of the year, you should have pretty good success in securing a resort of your choice at 7 months out.

Our home resort is BCV but we'll be at the VGF this coming May.

At that age, I'd prefer the pool at BWV, if your child actually likes to swim.

SAB is great for toddlers who only play in the sandy part. However, that part of the pool is the FARTHEST from the villas! Once they start swimming or playing in water, it's hard to keep an eye on them unless you are holding them constantly.

Now that my kids are teens and strong swimmers would I go back to BCV and SAB. It was too stressful for me not to always have them in my line of sight when they disappeared into the lazy river and one of the small pool nooks.

We wound up staying by the quiet pool when at BCV since it was too far to walk to SAB for quick dips and so we could watch the kids without getting into the water. :rolleyes1

Congrats on the standard view points!

I saw that VGF was available during our dates as well, but the point cost is just so high! It seems hard to justify?

I agree completely! This is a graduation trip for my oldest daughter so I let her choose the resort. We were not surprised by her choice!
Unfortunately it means NO points for a 2015 trip.

We stayed at BLT 1 bedroom standard view and then BWV 1 bedroom standard view during that same time. We were there the week leading up to Memorial Day 2013(Sunday-Sunday) and had no problems getting the accomodations - I booked about 6 months out, using points. BWV is one of our favorites - love the location - and now BLT is a favorite, too - also for location!!!!

the BWV's also have a community hall, with craft classes, board & video games, books, DVD rental (free for DVC), ping-pong, etc

:)
