I read a while back that they don't actually fill your mugs at the Boardwalk - you show them your mug and they give you a regular cup. Is this really the case? Seems a little silly.

According to Allearsnet.com the locations you can get you're mugs refilled there is at BoardWalk Joe's CoffeeCart and BoardWalk Bakery. No where does it mention you getting the drink in a regular cup, so I think what you read was not true.

Yes When You Go In The Boardwalk Bakery You Show Them Your Mug And They Ask Want You Want. They Then Fill A Papercup And Hand It To You.been Waiting For Some Post About This And How Easy It Would Be To Abuse This Way.( Go Out Hand The Mug To Someone Else And They Go In. ) Hope Those Type Of People Don't Read This.

we were there in Oct. and that is how it went, they told me it was something to do with taking "dirty/used" mugs back over the counter.

They used to refill the actual mugs at the Bakery but in recent years have gone away from that and give you your "refill" in a paper cup. The Bakery does not have a self refill station like at many of the resort food courts. But the nice thing is that the paper cup holds more liquid than the mug. I always just drink it straight from the cup and don't bother pouring it into the mug - less to clean up that way.

You can also get mugs refilled at the Spoodles pizza window.

Do other resorts do this as well or is this a Boardwalk thing?

Thanks

Not sure what you're asking what the other resorts "do," but all of the resorts sell refillable mugs that can be refilled at a counter service location at the resort and sometimes the pool as well. Most of them are self-serve at a drink station. The current price is $12.49. The mugs can be refilled for the length of your stay at the resort. They can be refilled with soda, coffee, and some other drinks such as lemonade, iced tea, or fruit punch depending on the resort.

All of the resorts are currently selling the same mug with a Year of a Million Dreams theme except for CSR and CR. The food court at CSR is not run by Disney so they have a different mug, and there is a temporary counter service at CR that is not set up for fountain drinks.

HTH!

I am referring to the previous messages stating that at the Boardwalk, drink refills are supplied in paper cups rather than in your refillable mugs...

I was asking whether other resorts do this as well.

Sorry - then I gave you way more info than you were looking for. :)

From my own personal experience I know that all of the values and moderates (except CSR) have self-serve refill stations and so do SSR, WL, and GF. BW is the resort I've seen that does the paper cup refills. I'm not sure about the other deluxes/DVC resorts though.

Did you transpose the 12 in the price? When we were there in 2005 I think I remember the price being over $20.

Nope. I've got 14 mugs from various resorts in my kitchen cabinets and have never paid more than around $11-12 for any of them. CSR had a big 64 oz. one that was around $20 - maybe that's what you're thinking of?

It's the one thing I don't like about BW....you have to lug that mug down to the Bakery with you, then they give you a cup with your drink in it. You either have to pour the coffee/soda into the refill mug (and there is spillage because the cup holds more than the mug) or you have to carry the empty mug back to the room, as you drink from the paper cup. Drives me nuts.
I know it's a little thing but it sure would be nice if BW had someplace to refill the mugs that was self-serve. It wouldn't have to be a big area.

I think this procedure is unique to the Boardwalk because there is no food court and therefore no self serve drink stations.
