Boardwalk Question

Eating regularly at Epcot only works if you're an annual passholder or have park hoppers for every single day of your trip. Many guests don't have either, and that does leave an issue with the lack of good counter service options in the Epcot resort area. Yes, it's a problem.

The main reason we get park Hoppers is the freedom to do this. You are right not for everyone.

Bakery is totally enough! We stay at Boardwalk almost every time would of stayed there for the upcoming trip but Beach Club was cheaper and it's a bucket list item to stay in every WDW resort.

There is a lack of counter service but you will find lots of choices and the location is great. The store on the boardwalk has everything to go and you can get a lot for snack credits. The bakery and several booths on the boardwalk have nice choices and the Beach Club is just around the water. Great choices there, too. The bakery in France does open at 9am even tho the WS opens at 11. We have done breakfast there several times and it's really lovely. I don't think you will regret your choice.

Thank you all for your responses. We have the park hopper, and I am quite excited about being so close to EPCOT. I plan on utilizing that as much as I can. I was only concerned about the drink refills and lack of counter service options because of traveling with young kids (7 year old boy and 4 year old twin girls). Thank you for your help.

Hi,
I am having the EXACT same struggle, but after planning out every single meal, practically down to what I'm ordering, I don't think it will be an issue except the day of our arrival. We get in at 12:30, which means if all goes well, we get to the resort at 2 pm. We will be HUNGRY. And after eating junk on a plane, I don't want more junk. I want a QS meal. So it's a struggle. We may walk over to BC, there seems to be better options there, but if my daughter wants to swim (which is the schedule, though of course the schedule is flexible) then we will suffer through the pool food or just deal with the pizza (though I have the one kid who doesn't like pizza with sauce. geez).

2 days we eat off-property, 2 days we deal with an ok not so perfect breakfast:
MK- Be Our Guest Breakfast (we will probably fill our mugs the night before, then freeze it. They make an AWESOME slushy halfway through the hot day)
EPCOT - Les Halles (we will fill mug on the way)
Animal Kingdom - this is the day we are suffering, going to the Boardwalk Bakery and grabbing pastries for Breakfast. Then an early lunch at Flametree. yum
HS - Again, grabbing pastries or the breakfast platter. Depends.

Don't forget The Dolphin is basically right next door with Picabu right next door. Look it up, it has alot of quick service stuff there and it's open alot.

I recommend walking over to Swalphin for your food court options. It's a short, pleasant walk.

The menu there looks awesome. How far of a walk is it from Boardwalk?
This issue, is I really don't want to kill any additional time. But it looks so good I may try it!

UGH. Nevermind. It's not on the dining plan, which we just happen to be doing this time around. Oh well, at least I know for next time!

Don’t forget about the new QS at the Yacht Club, they have breakfast sandwiches, and several choices for lunch/dinner. We love the BW area and have never had a hard time finding something to eat.

We are on the dining plan as well, but do not find the lack of QS to be a problem.

We either order grocers to be delivered for breakfast or get breakfast from the Bakery.

Lunch we like the options at the Bakery/Pool, but if we want a burger, we just walk to Hurricane Hannah's. It takes 3min to get over there, not a big deal. When I stayed at the Coronado, it took over 3min to walk to the main lobby or pool.

The Boardwalk Inn is my favorite resort on property -- hope you enjoy your stay.

For quick service on arrival day at the Boardwalk, you can go to the Pizza window and order a whole pizza for the family with 2 quick service credits (if I recall correctly) and the Leaping Horse pool bar provides refills for the mugs. Your family could swim and relax by the pool, while eating pizza. The Signature pizza is very good for Disney.

Some other options are walking or taking the boat to Beach/Yacht Club for counter service: Hurricane Hannah's (do not need to be staying at the resort to eat in the area), or the counter service options at both resorts.

My picks would be either pizza or Hurricane Hannah's for quick service options, if you do not want to enter Epcot. At Epcot, the quick service in France and England are good choices as well.

We are here now and food was kind of an issue as I anticipated, with a child who is mostly picky and overly excited. We felt with it and moved on.
Today we are going to Les Halles for pastries.

My daughter likes proper meals. So at BOG breakfast I thought we could share, she would eat the pastries and be fine- but nooooo. She was so upset she didn’t have “real” food. So I ended up ordering her the French toast, which by the way, she said was the best she’s had next to the one I make. Ha

Anyway, back to the point, we are LOVING our stay at BW and the convenience of it. Great bar/loungey/Social places on property. Love it.

Glad you're enjoying the Boardwalk!

The Boardwalk area is amazing. As long as it's not raining, there are many eating options between the BWI, BC, YC, and nearby UK and France. Like others have said there are three places to get refillable beverage refills. If it's raining, you might have to walk in the rain outside, but keep in mind you have to walk in the rain to the food court at almost every Disney resort including all of the value, mods, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian. BWI is the smallest footprint of any Disney hotel, and I would imagine walking even all the way to the YC would be no farther than a walk from the farthest pirate room at CBR to Ol Port Royale, for example. The Boardwalk area is a unique place, and to do it right, if at all possible, one should get park hoppers when staying at an Epcot resort so that you can pop into Epcot whenever you please.

We stay on the villas side, so we always have coffee, milk in the fridge, and cereal for breakfast. We also grab muffins, etc. from the baker on the way home or pick up stuff at the Screen Door which has a ton of good stuff. We've eaten at the bakery, which was fine and the pizza window. Food isn't the most important part of our trip, so we make it work because we love the Boardwalk area so much. Between the YC, BC and BW, there's plenty of places to get food if you're not in a hurry.
