If you plan months in advance, make reservations and everything else required for a wdw vacation - then a week before told 'oh by the way you won't have a pool...but we're charging you the same'

Does that make sense to anyone?

It's too late for me to make a change. Walking across to stromolong pool (which will now be 2x crowded) doesn't appeal to me.

Didn't we pay to have a pool at our resort?

And if there isn't a pool shouldn't it be less expensive?

There's also a very nice quiet pool at the Boardwalk, so you won't be without one completely. My kids preferred it, anyway. My guess is, the reasoning behind no discount is that it is at least within walking distance to another pool, unlike WL or Poly, when you had to take some kind of transportation to get there.

I'm sorry you're having this frustration! I know it's no fun to have a last minute (negative) surprise.

We got the same email. It's just my husband and I without the kids this trip. If the kids were coming I'd be upset for sure. Don't think Disney cares.

Have read on the boards this past year or two about a lack of caring or customer satisfaction issues...
I kind of discounted it as maybe certain people are just difficult to please. Besides, really didn't want to believe that Disney has taken a "take it or leave it attitude" with their most loyal customers...
But now seeing it first hand it's hard to defend them any more at this point.
Hope someone who actually cares takes notice before they turn us off for good...

A pool is never guaranteed is why there is no discount. They are offering you another option (SAB fromy understanding) and the quite pool is still available. When Poly's pool was under reno people were not given discount but rather the option to go to the GF and use that pool or take a water park ticket. If you are really that upset then reach out to Disney and discuss wrh customer service that you believe the offered accomidations are not the Disney customer service experience you are expecting.

The quiet pool by the Villas will be open and the quiet pool on the Inn side. So 2 of the 3 pools.

Things closed for refurbishment are always a disappointment but if they did nothing there would eventually be nothing working or it would all look so awful no one would want to go near it. FWIW they do tend to schedule pools during the winter months when the pools are typically less busy. If a slide is needed then they are offering SAB. If not, there are pools still open.

so the luna pool is closed? what are the dates?

You think that's bad? Disney allowed guests to reserve rooms in the business-class building at Coronado Springs throughout 2017, then closed the building to redevelop it at the beginning of January, knowing it was reserving rooms that would never be available. Those guests are being upgraded to deluxe club levels. There isn't much wiggle room with a feature pool refurb, but you could try demanding to be moved to YC or BC. You'll never get a per-night discount, though.

I think that's good! I would be thrilled with that upgrade. I wouldn't be complaining.

I kinda have the opposite perspective; we are bwv owners and, if in the boardwalk area, stay at bwv. It has traditionally been difficult to get a room at Bcv at the 7mo mark.

I would love to try out this famous and very sought after SAB pool while staying at bwv. It's not super far (maybe a similar distance btwn the farthest DVC bungalow and the volcano pool at poly?).

So, on my side, I envy your access to SAB. Lemonade out of lemons, I say!!

There are three pools at the Boardwalk resort. The leisure pool on the Inn side is very seldom even used. Many have reported having it to themselves. Even with Luna Park closed, I wouldn't expect crowds there.

Only the feature pool is unavailable for your stay. You'll be missing a slide, a lifeguard, a pool bar & if you have children, the children's play area. So maybe not quite as bad as you think.

That's how I'm looking at it. My kids compare every pool to SAB so they were thrilled to hear that we can use the pool there next month. The walk isn't too bad and the email said they will provide transportation for people who don't want to walk.

You're also paying for maintenance. There is no way to have regular maintenance on large pools without occasional multi-day closures, because there are regular, appropriate maintenance tasks that require draining a pool.

There is no way to drain, do such maintenance, and refill a pool the size of Luna Park in a way that will not mean a multi-day closure. Physics has rules.

There is ZERO chance that you'd be moved from a DVC room on points to the YC or BC due to the pool being down. They aren't even the same company. Its like the Frosty machine at Wendy's being down and demanding a shake from McDonald's - it isn't happening. And there is almost ZERO chance you'll be able to move the BCV - those rooms are already booked.

I would consider getting to use SAB as a perk!
That's the way I see it! I booked our arrival day at BWV because we get in late. I was able to get a standard view, so low on the points. And we were planning to hit Epcot the next day. I figured it came with a great parking spot. But, when I got the email, we started planning some pool time. I even had the opportunity to move my entire stay over to a standard studio at BLT, but declined, specifically because of the "perk" of getting to use SAB.
