BoardWalk or Beach Club?

We're planning to take my parents in May 2009 for their 50th wedding anniversary (actually, a few weeks after). We'll be there at the end of Flower & Garden, and we'd like to stay at an Epcot-area resort after having stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our last trip. I lean towards BCV, although I'm not sure why, and would like opinions on which we might prefer. My parents will be 70 and 68, are very mobile, so walking isn't too much of an issue. We would like it to be quiet, which may make Beach Club a better choice.

Thanks for the input, and for helping us make this a very special trip!

My DMom liked her stays at BCV and BWV, so I don't think you can go wrong at either place! May should be open enough for you to be able to book at either.

We own at both BCV and BWV. We've never stayed at a BW view room, and maybe they are what gives the impression that BWV are "noisier." We have not ever noticed that. Our only noisy experience has been with one of the balconies at the BCV that faced the road. I couldn't stay outside on the balcony and relax due to the road noise. However, this was probably right after the terrible hurricanes came through and there was lots of vegetation lost. I recently had a studio very near the road and was able to read, relax out there, so the landscape has filled in or my ability to concentrate has improved!:goodvibes

May is a great time. We took Dmom for a Mothers day trip one year and did the Mother's Day brunch at Epcot which was very very tasty and an all around good experience! The walk to Epcot is closer from BCV, so maybe that would be my first choice for you.

I agree with what Bobbi has said. The only BWV rooms that can be noisy are the Boardwalk View rooms, since there is a lot of stuff going on each night outside your room. That is part of the fun, IMO.

I would go with the Boardwalk. We take my parents (mid-70's) with us often and they love the Boardwalk. They love the activity/entertainers on the BW at night. We've had rooms right on the BW and have had no issues with noise.

I would say Beach Club, just because it's afew steps closer to Epcot. However you really can't go wrong. We really enjoyed our BoardWalk view. But honestly it was a little noisy, if that's a concern.

I would say BWV. I like the quiet pool there better than then BCV quiet pool. I also think, other than the Boardwalk view, that I like the views better. There is activity at the BWV if you want or quiet if you want.

BCV has more dining opportunities within the actual resort. BWV they are very close by but not direct within the resort.

Both are great choices.

I would say Beach Club - less walking to EPCOT and also less walking to get to your rooms - those hallways at BWV can be very loooonnnnggg after a day in the parks. Just my two cents worth.

I would also say Beach Club because you are a good deal closer to Epcot and you can practically park right next to the villas. But like others have said, you really cant go wrong.

I would say both are nice, so book whatever you can get. I booked at the seventh month mark and could not get all my days.

Have a wonderful trip.

I was going to say the same thing. I called earlier this month and was lucky to get 2 studios for the first week of May through Mother's Day weekend. Now several of those days are sold out. OP, you need to call MS and check on availability very soon--at least for BCV.

One of the factors not yet mentioned is BWV has standard views at less points per night and that could add another day to your stay.

SAB is the superior pool for just hanging out relaxing in the afternoon; otherwise there is no bad choice so have a great time.

Yes, but keep in mind the OP is looking at May and the 7 month window is already open for most of May. I tried to book a standard studio for the beginning of May before the 7 month window openned and there was no availability then. If they are looking for a 1 bedroom their chances are better.

I just called MS this morning to change my May 13-20 booking at SSR to a studio at either BCV or BWV. May 13,14 was not available at BCV but I was able to get a preferred view studio at BWV for my entire stay. :goodvibes I'm guess I'm lucky since we are about a week into the 7 month window.

We're arriving on May 24 (or actually, we're arriving on Friday, May 22, but won't use points for the weekend), so the seven-month window opens on Friday. I'll be up early that morning (I'm in Washington state) to make the call!

Good luck! Let us know what you end up with. Unfortunately you are planning to go during Memorial Day weekend, which could cause you some problems as all holiday weekends can be a little more booked that any other weekend.
