My friends are going next week and have a PS Ressie for PSB @ Akershus at 830am on 8/7. HOWEVER, I just learned:

a) the "Friendship" boats don't start running until 830am (which you can see the problem here) and

b) there is no BUS from BWI to Epcot.

So - short of walking all the way from BWI to Norway - how else do you get there?!

It's my friend, his DW, DS9, DS7, DD5. Thats an AWFUL LONG way to make them all walk. Help! :earseek:

The walk is not really that far. We are staying at the Dolphin in September and we have Ps's for PSB at 8:30 also. My DD3 ands I will be walking to the International Gateway.

Lots of people walk from the Boardwalk or YC/BC or Swan/Dolphin to both Epcot and Disney Studios. A very short stroll and easily accomplished. Your friend will enter through the International Gateway and walk over to Norway. They may need to have their PS number, though.

The walk from BWI to the International Gateway (where the Friendship boats drop off) is about 5 minutes. When we were there last week, we walked EVERYTIME and EVERYTIME beat the boats there. The International Gateway entrance is between France and United Kingdom in World Showcase. You'll have to walk the long way to get to Norway, because they have the bridge to France roped off. You'll have to walk towards Canada, and then around the Lagoon to Mexico and then Norway. I'd leave the BWI at 8AM or so, and they should have plenty of time.

FWIW, they will have to walk from the IG to Norway anyway. It probably is a longer walk than from BWI to IG.

Actually, the path they have you walk (UK Canada Mexico Norway) is shorter than going past France.

You're right!! I looked at my Epcot Map, and it is slightly shorter, probably less than 5 minutes, but it is a little shorter!!! And the walk from the International Gateway to Norway probably will run you around 15 minutes.

If there was a bus it would take them to the front of Epcot which would be a longer walk than BW to Norway.

If they are going to have problems with the walk from BW to Norway, they are going to have a hard time seeing Disney World. It is a walking vacation.

remember, you can always get a cab from the hotel to epcot. but walking all the way from the front gate to norway is a haul, believe me. i'm disabled and poor DH has to push my wheelchair.

maybe you can try for a later ressie when the boats are running? just don't cancel the one you have till you are able to get a later one if you try for that.

As long as they can get into the park through International Gateway before 9 a.m., walking is not a problem. I much prefer to walk from the Swan to Epcot vs. taking the boat, and the Boardwalk is twice as close. Walking is much faster than the boat and it's quite scenic.

I stayed at BWV with friends in April and we had an early PS for PSB breakfast. We walked to the IG, they checked for our name at the turnstiles. It was a nice walk around the World Showcase, it was quiet, we took lots of pictures (Flower & Garden Festival time). We got to the PSB early, they had a little opening ceremony for the kids and then called each parties name to be seated. I think we may have had an 8:20 ps.

The walk is no big deal. As my fellow posters note, about 5 mins to the Int'l Gateway, they give you special dispensation to walk thru the closed park, and another 7 to 10 mins to Akershus (faster on the Future World side of the lake). Hey, these kids are gonna be walking around the parks all day anyway, and I suspect that they will have some strong motivation knowing that they are headed to the Princess Breakfast (unless they are jaded boys, of course).

COMPLETE AGREEMENT! It's a hop skip and a jump. Piece of cake walk, and it's a pretty walk, too! Esp in the morning ;)
