Boardwalk Ferris Wheel

Anyone else think the Boardwalk area should have a ferris wheel?? Would lend itself to make the place more "authentic", I think.
In my distant memory I seem to recall that a ferris wheel was proposed, but rejected for some reason. Anybody recall that??

Just musing here--I know they could probably not now put one in.

I think a ferris wheel would be perfect for the Boardwalk! It would go so well with the boardwalk theme and would really complement the games and activities that are there now.

They could recreate a lot of the attractions at DCA for the Boardwalk. They have a very nice, very BIG ferris wheel there.

Where would they put it? The Boardwalk isn't that wide to hold a ferris wheel and a que area.

On one of our early visits to WDW (either 1989 or 1993), I distinctly remember our bus driver pointing out that area and saying that a Coney Island-type amusement park would be built there. I filed it away in the back of my mind, and when we visited the Boardwalk for the first time, I was surprised there were no amusement park rides!

I've always found the Boardwalk to be less than the guidebooks describe. I don't see a lot of shopping and the carnival games are certainly nothing to get excited about. Is that just me?

I think it's an excellent idea, not sure where they'd put it, but I'd love to see it, that and a carousel!

It sure would be an excellent addition to the BW.

They could make it really authentic by building a pier out over the water off of the BW.

Uncleromulus, one of my old Birnbaum guidebooks ('92? or maybe '93) says a ferris wheel was part of the plan at that time.
I had wondered what happened also.
I agree it would be nice if they could extend a pier off of the BW, almost like Santa Monica pier in CA. But I don't know where they would put it.
I think it would be great......as far as our musings go!
