Boardwalk Buskers

PamOKW posted that the Boardwalk Buskers will be leaving as of June 14th.
This is very upsetting. My kids loved them. We will be making our next trip down in August, so we'll miss them.
Does anyone know what will replace them? What was there before them or have they always been there?
I am a relatively new BWV owners and would like to draw on some of you BW ol'timers to give me a history lesson.

Was there always live acts on the BW?
I heard there is a DJ sometimes. Is this only on the weekend or is he there some times during the week?
When we took our tour last Feb. there was a brass band performing on the green at the BW. I didn't see them on our last trip. Do they show up periodically?
Do the acts cycle periodically so to keep it fresh so I really shouldn't be that upset?

My two DS's are going to be quite upset. They even wanted to leave the parks early just to catch the show every night. Hopefully it will be replaced with another entertaining show.

OMG! That is my kids' favorite part of the BW at night. We wait for them almost every night - they love having the chance to be in the show every once in a while.

We're going back in July -they're going to be crushed!

As I said, my info was second hand but I think reliable. I'm kind of hoping it's not just a cutback but that they plan to replace them with some other entertainment. I agree that they make the atmosphere at the Boardwalk realistic and unique. Disney is cutting a lot of their acts saying they are dated and plan to replace them with other entertainment. Hope this is true for BW as well.

Well, my kids won't miss it because we've never seen it! When we took our tour last June, it was a rainy afternoon and no one was out. However, I thought from what I'd heard that this was one way to keep the kids interested in the BW at night. We go down June 20! We can't do the clubs because our kids are too little. It looked so cool on the DVC video too! Things keep getting cut just before we go down for our first trip home!

My boys will be devastated ! they would watch attently, then chase them to their next location when they returned. Oh my gosh, this is just awful, awful....Things like this really get me mad. First they get you hooked, then they crush you !

I hope this isn't true. OKW is our home and we went over to visit the BW during our last stay. They were the thing we enjoyed the most about the BW. I definitely hope they replace them with something as good, if the information is accurate.

Thanks for the link DVCDudes. I guess confirmation doesn't get much better....straight from the horse's mouth. It's also interesting that management at the whole area has changed. I wonder what will happen next.
