What is there to do down by the boardwalk at night time? I heard there are some shops and restaurants and was wondering if its worth it to take some time out and check it out. :cool1:

Lots of fun and great places to eat. There is always lots of street performers juggling or doing magic or playing a piano on wheels or something else. You can get one of those four person bikes and ride it around to BC/YC. Also, if you want to avoid the crowds at Epcot you can get a decent view of Illuminations from the bridge between BW and BC.

Boardwalk is definitly fun! We spent a night there just walking around and shopping. The street performers are fun too! Here is a pic of one:

Oh and how can I forget the Boardwalk Bakery!

Thanks! Will definitely make a point to go there at least one time while were there. I have 4 kids (from 9 to almost 16), so I think it would be fun for all of us.

What time does the Boardwalk close, and is there Disney transportation direct to other hotels?

I like the Boardwalk, if for nothing else - it's really pretty at night. It's just a great place to walk around. There is no direct transportation from that are to other resorts, but from MGM or Epcot you can take a boat to the Boardwalk. It is a nice way to arrive (esp. from Epcot). You go out the back exit of Epcot - near the United Kingdom. The walk from Epcot isn't bad either, but the boat is more romantic. After going to the Boardwalk, assuming you aren't headed back to Epcot for the fireworks, you can take the boat to MGM, and it drops you off near the entrance/bus area for the other resorts. Although the buses from MGM will only run an hour after park closing. (Epcot usually closes at 9). You could also take a taxi, which probably wouldn't cost that much. There is also some overflow parking at the Boardwalk for people who are going to dinner there. If you are a resort guest, you can park there, but the overflow lots are a bit of a walk. You could also hop on a bus by the Boardwalk for DTD, but I think this would take longer than some of the other options I listed.
As for closing time, I suspect it might vary by season. We once saw the performers leaving around 10:30, I think it was. I suspect the clubs stay open past midnight.

Here is an idea of what we did: We got to the Boardwalk around 6-ish and walked around, ate, had some dessert, and then took the boat to MGM to catch the late Fantasmic show...then hopped on a bus to our resort to get back. It was a very fun nite :thumbsup2

I am so excited this time because we are staying at the Dolphin and can walk to the Boardwalk!!! :Pinkbounc

That was something I really like about the Swan/Dolphin - getting to walk through the Boardwalk area each morning. Sure, it's a little longer, but something about that bridge, and the entranceway near the Atlantic Dance Hall always puts me in a great mood, and the Swan/Dolhin at dusk coming from Epcot is breathtaking. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks! Your post made me even more excited! Last time when we took the boat to the Boardwalk from MGM (we were staying at CSR) I vowed that next time we went to WDW we would stay at one of the Epcot resorts...well I got the discount rate for Dolphin and here we come!!! :moped: :moped:

Yes I had wanted to go last time however we walked passed and it didn't seem like anything was going on...maybe it was too early or an 'off' nite...

I will def go this time though!

The last time I was there, it was kind of funny....I was standing outside the door, and was nearly overcome with the smoke.
At first I was opposed to anti-smoking laws. But the laws passed, and stuck in our area. I didn't realize I was so used to non-smoking until I caught wind of the smoke coming from there. Now I wonder if Disney will make it non-smoking.

They allow smoking in there? I don't think that I will want to go now...
