We have never visited the Boardwalk area, it sounds from other posts, a nice place to spend an evening. As we are offsite, can we still visit ? Where do we park etc. Restaurant recommendations please if possible:goodvibes

Hi,

We stayed at the Boardwalk in 2006.

Great location as you have Beach Club opposite and EPCOT walking distance too.

You can visit any WDW hotel, we always say we are here "for a look around" and they normally let you in though guests have parking tickets to display you should still be able to park in the lot as others do.
I suppose ideally if you have a dining reservation it makes you feel more comfortable arriving at the resort as you are paying for service after all.

You could also access via the 'International Gateway' if you were touring EPCOT at the time.

ESPN Sports bar is the best place in Orlando for me.
Didn't eat out that much though Spoodles is great for breakfast.

We've been to the boardwalk a couple of times for a "look around", they let you park in their carpark for this. There are shops and restaurants, but we never stay that long when we go, just somewhere different to go.

We had a lovely meal last year at Bigg Rivver Grill & Brewing works on the Boardwalk, then had a wonder around after got on the boat accross to MGM to see the late show of Fantasmic

Its a lovely place to visit and eat:thumbsup2

As BWV is our home resort we are there two or three times a year.
It is a great place to "promenade" in the evening and there is usually free entertainers circulating and drawing a crowd.
Restaurants are good, Spoodles and Big River Grill especially. The Flying Fish is expensive but popular. The ESPN is terrific for sports fans but a bit noisy for us. We had lunch there recently on a slow day and they will change the big TV screen nearest to you to whatever of the sports channels you desire (Fox Soccer for us!).
The stroll all round the lake is about half an hour or longer and you get a splendid close-up view of the Yacht and Beach Hotels as well as the Swan and Dolphin plus the "back way" into Epcot and the canalside walk to the Studios. You can rent Surrey Bikes, four wheelers that take two, four or six riders. Fun but tiring getting over the bridges!
Well worth a visit, in my opinion.

If you fancy an ice cream whilst you are there pop over to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club, they do really yummy icecream dishes!! Or if you fancy a game of crazy golf there is a nice crazy golf game behind the boardwalk too, by the dolphin hotel.

A walk round the Boardwald is something we do one evening on every trip. It is so relaxing taking a slow stroll round the lake. Sit on one of the swings on the beach. Watch the street entertainment. Chat about how one day we WILL stay at the Yacht/Beach Club instead of a moderate!! A nice place to slow down a little.

We go to the boardwalk at least once each hol, LOVE Flying Fish, highly recommended if you want a nice meal (unfortunatly the price is not so nice$$$$, but still worth every cent)

The kids (DD5 & DD1) look forward to going on the front of the bikes that you can hire (I think they just like to see there parents try to maintain there dignity whilst puffing there way over the bridges) They also enjoy sitting on the swinging chairs and playing in the sand at the small beach area past the international gateway.

A lovely realxing evening really recommended it!!!!

Sounds idylic. Do you take the kids to Flying Fish ? Never sure how posh some of the restaurants are. Our kids are very well behaved, but sometimes you get the feeling that eyebrows are a raisin'.

We really enjoyed Spoodles last year. A stroll along the Boardwalk is a nice way to end the day. Just be careful if it's been raining - those boards can be slippy!

We had a meal at the Yachtsmans Steakhouse at the Yacht club and then had a walk around the Boardwalk and watch the entertainment. It was a lovely evening so we are doing the same this year.:)

I haven't taken the sprogs there (normally twist grandmas arm into babysitting!!:rotfl: )

I have seen children there each time, but they have been well behaved, but then I wouldnt raise an eyebrow even if the child was having a "moment" having kids of my own I know these "moments" can be very unpredictable!!!

They do have a kids menu, check out
www.wdisneyw.co.uk
they have the menu on there...Potato wrapped red snapper is so so so so so so so so tasty!!!

Don't forget Jellyrolls - a fine, adults only, duelling piano bar, open from around 7pm until the early hours. A wonderful night out.

we're big jelly rolls fans, but i think you have to be 21 to be permitted in - i do recall them asking for ID (DD's, not mine)..

it's a dueling pianos, singalong place........
definitely lots of fun...

one of the nights during the week is CM night when it gets really packed and chairs are very hard to come by....if you go that night, get there early..
it might have been tuesday night, i'll have to look it up...

i forgot to mention, there is an entrance charge.....$7?....i can't remember....but it does cost money to get in.....
and then it's just drinks and singing...and fun....
